CHAPTER SIXTEEN
AND HERE WE GO
⋘ ──── ∗ ⋅◈⋅ ∗ ──── ⋙Tanya didn't talk much after what had happened with Brian. She actually just kept her distance and instead of surprising the group suddenly like the trio, she took one of the cars to the market in the city to grab some food for their stay. This was one of the times of complete silence she needed since, in her sleep, she could hear the screams of people she'd kill. And anyone who had to listen to that every time they slept wouldn't be able to ever experience quality silence and be allowed to think.
So, she took this little time for herself to just relax a bit and prepare herself for seeing the team. She'd gotten background on every member and learned they all had worked with Dom, beside herself. The only person she knew personally was Roman and she was happy to see him. They had a lot to catch up on, especially Tanya since she found out that Brian and Roman had done a job back in Miami. She got all the details from the documents she had hacked into. Of course, she wasn't locked out and had the clearance for certain levels, but that certain case she didn't have access to.
Walking through the market, Tanya grabbed a few good looking apples and put them in her bag and handing the man money. Giving him a smile when he thanked her generously. As she continued walking, she brushed through a few people and stopped at a few of the stands. Grabbing chips, drinks, fruits, any other types of food that would serve them well for the time being.
But stopping when she felt a body behind her. Lowering her hand to her pocket where she had a knife, but her wrist was grasped. "It's me." Tanya let out a breath before she turned to be faced by Luke. "I could've stabbed you, dumbass." She grumbled, slapping his arm. Luke smiled as he glanced to his right to see Fusco blending in with the rest of the crowd. Leaning against a pillar and reading a newspaper while glancing over at the pair. Sparring Tanya a tiny smile before going back to blending in.
"You stalking me?" She asked quietly, her eyes staying on Fusco for a moment longer before looking back up at Luke. Luke huffed before he interlocked their hands and began walking side by side to blend in with the other people around them. "No, but I have Wilkes on the camera's across the city looking for your brother and Toretto." He stated and Tanya sighed as she ran hand a hand through her blonde locks. If Tanya was being honest, she felt conflicted on whose side she was supposed to be on.
Her husband was on one side with her friends, and her brother was on the other. It should be an easy choice, but it wasn't for her. She knew family should always come first, but she also had a family with Luke back home. They were probably both wondering when she and Luke be coming back, but Tanya didn't know if she could leave her brother's side again. It was all too annoying to think about and try and decide on.
Luke sighed as he brushed his thumb over her knuckles. Knowing that it calmed her down a bit whenever she seemed stressed, which she very much was. "I also came to tell you that a few people are angry on your change of sides." He told her and Tanya turned to him with a frown. "What did you tell them?" She asked and Luke glanced around, making sure no one was listening before looking down at his wife. "I told them that you're undercover. That you're on the inside and trying to figure out why the hell they are here. But I don't know how long they'll keep with it. There considering your termination."
Tanya bit her cheek as she could feel a massive migraine coming on as she rubbed her temple to try and ease it down. "Just... Just come up with something new, anything." She told him sharply as she closed her eyes and continued to rub her temple. Luke frowned at the state of the blonde, "Are you okay?" He asked and Tanya gave a nod. "Yeah, just have been feeling like shit for the past couple of days." She brushed off with a sigh and looked up at him with a forced smile when seeing the apprehensive look on his face. "I'll be fine." She added for reassurance.
It was a lie, she had felt like complete shit after last night and the weeks before coming to Rio, but it hadn't been this bad at that time. Her body wasn't allowing her to eat anything unless she kept in and then was just sick for the remaining time until she could get back on her feet. And as it stood for right now, she didn't have time to just kick it back with a blanket around her to make her feel better. She had to be there to help in any way she could. Even if that was to grab food for the team that would be arriving soon.
Her husband sighed as he rested his hands on his hips, glancing to their sides quickly and Tanya glanced around as well. Seeing a few suspicious-looking men glancing at them. It made Tanya laugh in utter amusement at how much they stood out. She and Luke had been doing this for too long to let them slip past them so easily. But Tanya had to admit that she wasn't in the greatest of moods to be dealing with this type of shit. Her head was pounding and she still had to get food and drinks for the team, but she would have to go back with what she had for right now.
"I count for on your left," Tanya whispered as she glanced around faking a smile to act like she didn't know of their existence. "I count two. Fusco and I will deal with them." Luke reassured as he and Tanya made eye contact. "All right, be safe and keep our boss on my side." She told him as he nodded. "I love you." She finished, standing up on her tippy toes and letting him press his lips against her.
Although it was short, it still felt amazing to feel his lips on hers after so long. It felt so relieving and calming for her as she almost wished everything would end around them and they could live alone. But she knew better than that and pulled away and smiled up at him. "I love you too. Be safe." He told her before they both sighed looking in either direction that they would be going. "And here we go." Tanya muttered before walking away in one direction and her husband walking with her.
Moving through the crowd of people slowly, Tanya's eyes landed on Fusco who walked over to one of the men watching them and hitting him in the back of the head knocking him out. Luke was quick to move to the next guy and knock him out with one punch before looking to where he last saw Tanya and finding her gone. Like she just vanished into thin air of something like a ghost.
It brought a smile to his lips as he moved with Fusco to their truck and opening his door before stopping. Seeing the familiar sleek black 3rd Gen Honda Prelude driving by. Tanya sending him a tiny wink before driving away. Luke licked his lips and chuckled with a shake of his head and got into the truck. Hoping that this would be over soon so he could just be with her and their kids back home.
