Hey, I'd really appreciate if you could vote and comment regularly on the chapters. I work really hard on them. Also, do you like how the book is going? And what do you expect next?
Happy reading.

And in the middle of my choas, there was you, saving me from my bitter past.

Niall's POV

"Thank you so much for having me, Mr Jones." I stand up, buttoning my jacket's button, and shake his outstretched hand. He seemed like a nice and professional guy and I felt quite comfortable talking to him.

"Always our pleasure, Mr Horan." He grins before I walk him out. "The article is going to be in the October edition and we'll be sure to send you a copy before and after it's printed."

"Thank you, I'll be waiting." I enthusiastically smile. This has, honestly, been the best moment in my business life and I'm very thankful for the opportunity I got. My smile widens as I see Ana sitting outside my cabin, legs crossed over each other. "Ana?" I call and she turns to me with a straight face, instantly standing up and striding towards me and wrapping her arms around my neck. I slightly furrow my eyebrows as I wrap my arms around her waist, feeling a little concerned as I gauge her expressions. "What are you doing here?" I ask after pulling away and holding her at arm's length, staring at her face, trying to decipher her emotions.

She shrugs. "I knew how important this was for you so I wanted to get you pastries before the interview as a good luck but I got stuck in the traffic." A small smile etches upon her lips and my heart flutters at the thought. She turns to look where she was sitting, my gaze follows hers, and there, indeed, rests a box on one of the chairs.

"Thank you." I lean and peck her lips. "Ana, this is Brian Jones from The Economist, and she's Ana Kohl, my girlfriend," I introduce and she politely greets him and shakes his hand.

"Mr Horan has said quite a few things about you, Ms Kohl," He says, a faint smirk on his lips and I feel heat reach up to my cheeks. I may or may not have talked about her at every chance I got. Ana turns to look at me and I faintly shrug, tucking my hands in my pocket.

I don't know why but it still feels a little unsettling that Ana's here. It's not unusual but looking at her, I feel like something might be wrong. She's forcefully smiling and there's a hint of fret visible in her eyes.

After a couple of minutes, Brian leaves, smiling brightly at Ana and I glare at him as he walks out of the office before winking at my girlfriend. So much for being the nice guy. I shake my thoughts of him and turn to Ana, giving her all my attention.

"Let's go inside," I ask, more like state before taking her hand in mine and walking towards my cabin. I stop in my tracks when I hear Logan call me. "I'll talk later," I curtly say before resuming our way to my office. I lock the door behind me, hike Ana up to sit on the desk while I move to stand in between her legs. "Tell me what happened," I say, moving closer to her and resting my palm on her thighs, drawing comforting circles on her bare skin and leaving goosebumps in its wake.

She visibly tenses and her expression changes for a split of a second before a huge smile sprawls across her face. "I just wanted to wish you luck for the in-"

"I know that isn't it, Ana. I know something has happened, so please tell me," I urge, putting a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Did something happen at the Gallery?" I ask, suddenly feeling a little mad. If Aiden or Zayn had pulled any shit, I'm going to finish them.

"No, I-I just-" She pulls me closer by my neck. "I wanted to be with you because I feel safe and protected and I just missed you so much. I tried to call you but you didn't pick up and I just- I wanted to know if you're alright and I wanted to be close to you-"
