It had been months since Korras depature from Republic City. She had been wandering around the world like a lost soul. Aimless and had no clue where she was going.
The first two months, she had a lovely time with her family back at the Southern Water Tribe. She made a couple of long-lasting friendships as well. Her closest friend was a non bender boy who went by the name Yaran. He was a bubbly kid, and it reminded Korra of Bolin. But at times, he was mature and wise, which also reminded her of Mako.
Her mother and father were so happy to have her back. They had heard the news about Korra getting arrested and wanted to visit but her mother claimed that she would tear up every two seconds. It was revealed to Korra that her father did end up coming to her court trial, as Tenzin had notified him about it on the exact same day. However, he kept himself hidden since he didn't want Korra to feel guilty.
Korra and Katara had crossed paths many times. The avatar took it upon herself to help out Katara at times. For example, she would go do her food shopping for her, or clean around. Korra wanted to show her gratitude Katara, who had previously helped her in many ways.
After reconciling with her family and overall having a good time, she decided that she wanted to explore the world. So she took off. Not alone though, but with Yaran.
At first, Korra didn't want to take him with her. But after he told her that he had never been anywhere else but the Southern Water Tribe, it made her change her mind entirely.
The two went to explore the Earth Kingdom. Korra cherished the times she had with Yaran. His eyes would light up whenever he would see something new.
Korra decided it would be nice to drop by Zao Fu and have a little talk with Suyin, Kuvira and the others. When she got there, Suyin was so happy to see her. Even though she hadn't done anything, she was apologetic for what happened to Korra back in Republic City. However, Korra was the opposite. She was thankful to Suyin for helping Kuvira prove that she was innocent.
Korra asked Suyin if it was okay to talk to Kuvira. Suyin said it was okay but there were some boundaries and a time limit.
Kuvira ran her fingers through Korra's dark brown hair. "You grew this?"
"Yeah, but I don't like it. I might cut it in a bit." shrugged Korra.
"Don't." opposed Kuvira. "It looks nice at this length."
Korra's hair was around 4 cm's below her shoulders. She despised it since it was starting to become a lot of work to handle. She prefer her hair being above her shoulders.
"Whatever.." Korra groaned since she hated Kuvira's idea. "Anyway, how have you been?"
"Apart from being at home all day, I've been good." Kuvira walked to her window, resting her arms on the sill. "I prefer this place way more then the prison back in Republic City. I never got to admire the sun back there."
Korra chuckled. She loved how talkative Kuvira was being. The conversation never died once between them. It wasn't like previously where Korra had to keep bring up a topic.
"Korra, Suyin is asking when.." Yaran paused when he saw Korra and Kuvira talking. "I'm sorry, am I disturbing you?"
"No, no. We weren't talking about something important anyway."Korra quickly shook her head.
Kuvira shifted her gaze between the two. Back and forth, before she started to smirk. "Somebody has a boyfriend." she mumbled in between her chuckle.
Korra elbowed Kuvira as she continued to talk to Yaran. "Well would you like to stay over here?"
"Yeah!" exclaimed Yaran. "Everyone here is so cool! Especially the twins!"
"Sure, just make sure to tell Suyin." said Korra
They managed to stay over at Zao Fu for a whole week before Korra decided she wanted to continue exploring the world.
Their last stop at the Earth Kingdom was Ba Sing Se. Because of Korras status, the two got to go to the upper ring. This means, Yaran was lucky to meet some high class people.
During their trip through the Earth Kingdom, many mistaken the two to be a couple. But Korra always denied it and claimed that she thought of him as a younger brother.
Korra had her 22nd birthday at the Southern Water Tribe. Whilst Yaran had his 17th birthday at the Earth Kingdom. That made him younger then Korra by two years.
After all the fun, Korra took Yaran back to the Tribe. Korra was happy with Yarans presence but she felt as if she needed some alone time after everything.
Yaran at the docks, watching Korra from afar. "Promise me you will be back?"
This very moment reminded Korra of a certain someone. "Of course I'll be back. Don't worry."
"See ya!" he bellowed, waving his hand at her.
The following weeks had been more relaxing and less productive for Korra. She was spending her time alone, near an Inn she had rented in a random island. She had made a living by working as a builder. Korra was smart; she only used her metal and earth bending abilities since she didn't want everyone to know she was the avatar.
The island quickly emerged as the place had a rapid building rate thanks to Korra. By the she was done, she had already built half of the island.
Korra knew that it was time she had returned to the city. But she had one last place in mind that she wanted to visit.
The Spirit World.
She absolutely loved that place. It was her most favourite. It gave her a fuzzy feeling inside, one that couldn't be described with words. At the same time, it made her feel like she was at home. Maybe it was because she was finally one with her spiritual self.
However, this meant that she got overexcited just by thinking about the place.
The spirits must have been waiting for her since they had already prepared foods and a place to stay for her. It shocked her even more that it was her very favourite foods. She was extremely thankful for their kindness.
During her wandering around, she met up with Iroh once again. He was glad to have time to catch up with her and finally give her the tea she missed last time.
She spent a lot of time meditating there. It made her feel more calm and relaxed. Like she had forgotten about everything that had happened to her.
Overall, she had a good time. It was the end of her recovery trip.
Korra was happy about one thing. She could honestly tell everyone that she had forgave them after everything. Her recovery trip was a success.
She wished this could go on forever but she knows she has a duty of being the avatar. And she didn't want to be known as a failure.
