After one whole year and three months, Korra was finally returning to Republic City. A place she once called home, though right now she didn't know what to think of it. She felt like a completely new person, who was experiencing the cities beauty for the first time.

REPUBLIC CITY

Korra took a step from her boat. Exhaustion was all she felt. She was near the port, since she didn't want to be seen by anyone whom she knew. Luckily, nobody did.

She made a decision that she would keep it low for a bit, not letting anyone know that she was here. It would only be until she had settled down and recollected her life here bit by bit.

"Hey!" an old man shouted from afar. "You can't park your boat here. Unless you want it destroyed!"

Korra didn't want to spend her time here arguing, so she walked straight passed him. "Do whatever you want with the boat, I don't care."

He caught a glimpse of her face and trailed behind her. "Aren't you that... what's the name.." He paused, rubbing his forehead. "That avatar girl!"

Internally, Korra was raging. Someone already recognised her and that wasn't her plan. "No. Sorry but you got the wrong person." lied Korra.

He kissed his teeth whilst walking away from her. "Whatever." a wicked laugh came out of him. "Say goodbye to your boat."

The loud crashes and bangs echoed in her ears. From the corner of eye, she witnessed a group of men abusing their powers of bending water to destroy her boat.

They finalized it with shards of ice coming out of every corner before they ran away like a bunch of teenagers.

She just scoffed before she continued to walk away.

A question lingered through her mind. What was she going to do whilst she was here? She was a known as a criminal right before she had left. And a return to the public eye out of the blue wouldn't be good for her.

On top of that, if she did return to the public, Asami, Mako and Bolin would most likely go out of their way to find her and talk to her.

Sliding her back against the tree, she covered her face in between her knees. "I never thought of this beforehand, what should I do" she mumbled to herself.

A noise snapped her back to reality. It was an annoying and loud noise.

Her day couldn't have gone any better when she saw the police pulling up to the docks. Turns out a couple of civilians saw them destroying Korra's boat and thought it was vandalism.

That wasn't the worst part. It was the fact that she saw a certain officer.

Mako.

He hadn't changed much throughout the one year. His hair was longer, still messy, with little strands laying on his forehead. The uniform he wore was slightly different from the others, which most likely meant he got promoted. He still had that resting face which makes him unapproachable.

The fighting lasted for about 5 minutes. Then Mako, acting like the hero he was, easily arrested them.

However, when he went to take a look at the boat, it made Korras hurt sink. It sank even further when he was just starring at it.

Anxiety swept the girl, as she believed that she had left something there which would have hinted that she was here.

She got her answer, when Mako picked up something and put it in his pocket.

Korra closed her eyes and took deep breaths. She was reassuring herself that everything was okay. And that Mako wouldn't find her.

"Korra? Is that you?"

The avatar shot her eyes opened. Mako was less then a metre away from her and she wasn't dreaming. Her plan of keeping low had already failed and it had been less then an hour.

"It really is you.." Mako grinned, his smile reached his eyes which showed that he was genuine.

"When are you coming to visit everyone? Bolin's going to be so jealous when I tell him I saw you .. and wait till I tell Asam-"

"No please don't." Korra cut him off. "Don't tell them that you saw me. I'd rather tell them myself."

"Alright then." The excitement washed off Mako's face and was replaced with his mature self. "As you wish. Your secret is safe with me."

The atmosphere was quite tense, just how Korra expected it. None of them shared a word for a solid five minutes. Just them sitting together doing absolutely nothing.

A police man shouted from the distance, telling Mako that they had to return to the station and lock up these criminals.

"Before I leave, I want to give you this." Mako pulled out a note from his pocket. "It is a special card. Show it to anyone and they will accommodate you to wherever."

Korra looked at it before returning her gaze to him. "Thanks. But why would I need this?"

"Because you and I are going to be meeting again tomorrow." said Mako.

Korra raised one of her eyebrows. "What makes you think I will go?"

"If you don't, I'll tell Asami, Bolin and everyone else that your here in the city." Mako smirked "And we will search for you until we find you."

Korra wasn't dense. She knew that was an empty threat. They had other things to do with their life then to search for her. Plus, they could have done that throughout the one year she was missing. "Whatever. Where do you want to meet?"

Mako was quite hesitant with saying the place. "Behind Future Industries new building."

She almost chocked on air just by hearing that. "No way."

"Why not?" Mako crossed his arms.

"I don't want to." she scoffed. "Pick another place or else I'm not coming."

Mako expected that response. "Fine. Then Central City Station. Be there at around 8pm, that's when I finish my shift."

"Okay, I'll be there."
