CENTRAL CITY STATIONThe time was 7:30pm. Korra was a little early, only because she had nothing to do. She had found a place to stay, but it just had a bed, a kitchen and a toilet.
Because of that, she had suffered from severe boredom.
So she tried to go for a walk, to clear her mind. And her legs ended up taking her to the one place she needed to be.
Central City Station.
She was sitting on a bench, near the sides. Doing nothing in particular. Her eyes just followed the wandering citizens.
Korra wasn't keeping track of the time. Therefore, she didn't know that it had already passed 8pm.
A loud yell entered one of her ears, and left through the other.
"Sorry I'm late!"
Mako was running. He stopped when he was near to catch a breath. Sweat trailed down his forehead. His attire was a black open jacket and red t-shirt with loose black trousers.
Whilst Korra? She had her hair tied up in a messy low bun. Two strands on both sides of her face. Her clothes were basically the same from one year ago. On top of that, she wore a dirt brown cloak.
"You weren't late." Korra reassured. "I just came early since I was bored."
"Do you have nothing to do?" asked Mako.
"I mean I just came back.. I don't know what I'm suppose to be doing. But I'll figure it out." shrugged Korra.
"Okay." Mako sat down beside her. "How you been?"
"I've been doing good I guess. How about you?" responded Korra.
"Good." said Mako. "It's nice talking to you like this, no arguing, no shouting and no awkwardness."
"Who said it wasn't awkward?" deceived Korra.
Mako got embarrassed and attempted to hide his face between his hands. "Oh my bad."
"I'm just kidding, don't take it to heart" Korra let out a low laugh.
"Right..." whispered Mako.
Just like yesterday, silence swept by the two. It was a comfortable silence though. The moonlight shun on their faces as a cool breeze touched their cheeks.
"When are you going to come visit everyone? I mean Bolin, Asami, everyone at the temple. We all miss you Korra and we are waiting for the day you return." blurted Mako.
"I don't know.. it's not that easy for me." sighed Korra. "I want to return I promise, but there is something telling me that it's too early."
"Mhm." Mako just shook off what she said. "Asami has been missing you a lot you know. She hasn't kissed anyone else besides you."
Rose red flushed Korra's cheeks. "What do you mean?"
"I saw it Korra. When you were leaving on your boat a year ago. The little lovers quarrel you and Asami had. And then that kiss you shared." Mako started to chuckle. "It was quite amusing."
Korra started to become nervous. "A-are you okay with it?" she stuttered.
"Why wouldn't I?" questioned Mako.
"Your right. Never mind." Korra hung her head low. She was thinking about how calm Mako was.
"You and Asami react the same." chortled Mako. "I know your both my ex's but that stuff happened years ago. Your both like little sisters to me now."
"I'm sorry." apologised Korra. "But at the same time, thank you. For being so acceptive."
"Don't thank me for being okay with your relationship." scolded Mako.
Korra giggled, which stopped Mako from his shouting. He saw the genuine look in her face. It made a smile form on his own face.
"So.." Korra murmured. "What was your reaction when you saw me and Asami that day?"
"Apart from the continuous teasing I got, and the awkwardness from Asami, I managed to stay cool. Took me a minute to let it sink though." shrugged Mako.
Korra looked at her former friend. He had changed so much throughout the years. From the hot headed guy who was slightly insensitive to a mature and calm guy. She had admired his character development.
"How is everyone?" blurted Korra.
Mako looked at Korra, bug eyed. "They are doing fine.. I know that's an indirect way of asking how is Asami."
Korras blush seared through her cheeks and for a minute she thought her face was on fire. "Yeah.. how is she?"
"She misses you a lot." Mako let out a deep sigh. "She doesn't tell us anything, but there is always a sad look on her face. Barely anyone sees because she is always putting a fake face on."
Just by what Mako had said, it made Korra rethink and question everything. Was it worth hiding herself from everyone? They had already waited a long time. Making them wait longer would just be
"Oh.. I didn't know." confessed Korra.
"I'm not in any position to tell you what to do but I just want to let you know that she has been waiting too long." said Mako.
"I know I know.. I should have been back earlier." Korra lashed. "I won't make her wait longer, don't worry Mako."
When they finally looked around, they realised that the streets were practically empty. Only one other person was walking around. The time on the massive clock showed that it was 12am. They had been talking for the passed 4 hours.
The fire bender stood up and stretched. "Well, I better head home, I have an early shift tomorrow."
Korra also stood up and stuck out one of her hands. "It was nice meeting up with you Mako."
"You too Korra. I hope we cross paths again." he shook her hand but pulled her in for a short hug.
She was quite hesitant but she did end up hugging him back. Only for a couple of seconds.
Korra had a change of heart. She knew that hiding from everyone wouldn't be wise. And if anyone had caught her and Mako sneaking around, Mako would be in a lot of trouble for hiding the fact she was in the city.
It was a hard choice but she had to say it. "You'll see me again soon, I promise."
Mako grinned from ear to ear. "I can't wait."
