Camila looked at her for a few moments. "What?" she asked eventually.
The woman repeated her sentence.
"I did not know that," Camila admitted. Even though she spoke English every now and then, her own voice sounded foreign to her. "While I can certainly use this information sometimes, why exactly are you telling me this?"
The woman shrugged. "I like whales. Aside from being awesome, they are an excellent conversation opener."
"I'm sorry, but... who are you?"
"Sally." She straightened up and shot her a bright grin before offering her hand. "Pleasure to meet you."
Camila let her eyes wander over her appearance. Just her posture alone showed her confidence and hell, she had every reason to feel that way.
Her blonde hair was shoulder-length and wavy, perfect for someone to run their fingers through. Her makeup accentuated her eyes, showing off the indefinable mix of colours. Her lips were painted bright red.
She wore a blouse with one button too many open, not that Camila was complaining. The pair of jeans she was wearing fitted like a glove and hugged her curves whilst showing off her long legs.
With her messy hair and baggy travel clothes, Camila instantly was intimidated.
She slowly took her soft hand in hers and shook it, not bothering to mention that she had been looking for other and more information than her name. "Likewise. I'm Camila."
"We are in Brighton soon, I hope you didn't need to get out of the train before, I didn't notice you were asleep," Sally said.
Finally something like an explanation, something that made sense. At least partially. "How did you notice it?" she asked curiously. "My seat isn't facing yours."
"You were snoring. It was very cute."
With these words, Sally walked back to her seat, leaving Camila with a slightly opened mouth and red cheeks.
She looked around, noticing that the train was almost empty now. Checking her phone, she realized that they would arrive in 5 minutes. She was suddenly very thankful Brighton was the end station of the train, otherwise, she would have missed her exit.
After the train came to a halt, she left it and stumbled out of the station. She was feeling extra clumsy that day. Having taken two suitcases and a backpack maybe hadn't been her best idea. Additionally, she carried her wallet and phone while she struggled to find the text message in which her future roommate had given her their address.
Of course, she had read about how windy this region could be but the hair blowing into her face so she couldn't see was a surprise. Immediately, she ran into something, or rather, someone.
One of the suitcases she was carrying was borrowed from her grandparents and was older than Camila herself. When it fell to the ground, it wasn't a big shock that the clasps opened themself up and revealed its contents to everyone walking by.
She quickly bent down to collect her things whilst beginning to apologise profusely.
"No problem."
Heat instantly crawled into her cheeks. As if she hadn't embarrassed herself enough in front of Sally.
With her suitcase in her hand, Camila slowly stood up and grinned sheepishly. Now that they were standing next to each other, she noticed Sally's height. The other woman was almost an entire head taller.
Sally didn't seem to mind that she had just bumped into her. "We meet again, how lovely," she said brightly. "You could help us-" she pointed to the man next to her who she was travelling with "-settle something. What's the better pet, cats or dogs?"
