No one knew what she went through with Kyle, no knew how she still had feelings for him and no understood why. She was the only one. She couldn't ask her friends for help because they didn't understand her anymore and her parents, she couldn't tell them because they wouldn't understand.

Emma looked at her reflection in the mirror and straightened up. She was done feeling sorry for herself because she didn't need that. She could be without him and she didn't need him, she wanted him and she wanted him to take her back and she wanted him to want her but sitting there and just wishing for that would be a lost cause. She didn't need anyone but herself. If she'd close herself to everyone in her life, they wouldn't get a chance to hurt her or take a part of like Kyle did.

It was only her and herself, no one else.

In Class

Take out the rough drafts for your essays. Mr. Thompson told the class and the students did just that.

"Now, I've decided to do something we haven't done all year. Instead of criticizing your essay yourself, I have divided the class into pairs. Now, I hope everyone has their rough drafts here today. Did anyone not do it?"

He looked at the class, he smiled. "Good, it works perfectly. No one's absent either. Good. Good."

So, Let's see, John and Melissa, Clarie and Jasmine..."

Emma looked down at her essay. She worked on it for at least 3 hours, and it was already perfect and ready to hand in for a perfect score.

"Emma and April."

Emma looked up immediately.

"No, no, no! With her luck, this was bound to happen. She looked over at April who seems to hate the idea as much as her."

Okay. Mr. Thompson said as he finished reading the names of the pairs.

"So, look for errors, ways to expand on the points of your partners. Emma and April, on the other hand, went quickly to Mr. Thompson. As April sat in the front row, she reached him before Emma.

Mr. Thompson. April started.

I can't-- Emma said when she got to him.

Work with her. April continued.

Of course, you can. He laughed.

No, I can't. They said in unison.

"Look--"

Please. Emma begged.

Look. Mr. Thompson said once again a little more frustrated. "You two are my best students. Pairing you with anyone else will just be a waste of time."

April and Emma looked at each other angrily knowing that there was no way to get it. They walked it towards April's desk and an empty desk next to it and turned them towards each other.

When they sat down, they snatched each other essays with aggression and took out their red pens.

Mines better. Emma considered as she marked up April's essay.

This is complete crap.  April thought as she crossed out a sentence.

Times up. Mr. Thompson called after what seemed like 10 minutes. "Hand your partner their essay back and discuss."

They grabbed their essays back from the other and saw red ink in every single corner of the paper.

You have got to be kidding! How is this awkward? April pointed to one of Emma's comment.
