Avni gathered her bag and walked out. Abhimaan was going Bangalore today for some important meeting she had just received his message. And this brought her so much relief.

She was waiting for the cab she had booked and was surfing her phone. At the same time neil came there and saw her. He walked towards her and cleared his throat. Avni turned around facing him.

Neil: waiting for the car?

Avni: no cab

Neil: come I'll drop you

Saying this he started moving but avni stopped him.

Avni: no it's ok I will manage

Neil: it's ok no need to get afraid of me I am not stranger am I?

Avni shook her head and he smiled.

Neil: then come

Avni got into the car and sat on the passenger seat. Neil ignited the engine and drove to her home after asking her address. The ride was silent but avni was busy in her inner turmoil between her heart and mind.

Her heart wanted to speak to neil but her mind didn't agree. Neil glanced at her once and again concentrated on road. How can he be quite when his heart had been filled with curiosity that why she is behaving like that.

He stopped the car due to traffic. Now they had to wait till don't know when. The road was full jammed and it would nearly take an hour to clear he calculated in his mind.

Suddenly a thought came in his mind and he widened his eyes.

Neil: ( in mind ) oh shoot is she suffering from memory loss? That's why she didn't recognize me?

His eyes got widened in horror and he looked at her. At the same time avni also looked at him. Seeing his horrible face her brows furrowed.

Avni: what happened?

Neil blinked twice registering everything. He put his hand on her shoulder making her shudder.

Neil: are you okay?

He said with concern filled orbs. His heart had been pondering loud that could be hear at that moment. While avni didn't get why he is saying like that. His hand was still on her shoulder making it difficult for her to remain calm when from inside she was damn nervous.

Avni: wh what ha happened to me I I am okay

She said shuttering badly. Neil closed his eyes then opened but his face held the same emotion.

Neil: no it's not okay how did it happen?

Avni: kya keh rahe hai aap what happened to me?

Neil: avni remember me neil we were friends in college I mean we are friends. 

Him mentioning friends got her perplexed. Finally he started talking with her like before but his weird behaviour was still shocking for her. She didn't know what to say.

Neil: oh how can you remember me

He took back his hand feeling dejected. While avni took a deep breath feeling almost breathless. Then his words stuck in her mind.

Avni: ( in mind) what? Why would I not remember him?

Neil again looked at her and held her hand. Avni's breath hitched by his stunt.

Neil: avni how can I say its shocking for me. How did it happen and

Avni: one second I am not getting what are you saying. What happened to me? What are you talking about?

Neil: your accident

Avni opened her mouth in shock and neil was looking at her.

Avni: ac accident?

Neil: haa that's why you are not recognizing me right? Look try to remember we used to study in same college then one day you just disappeared and

Avni: neil ek minute you are mistaken mera koi accident nahi hua and why did you think like that?

His mouth flung open realizing he didn't think before speaking. He was embarrassed but her answer made him confused.

Neil: accha then why you acted like you don't even know me. I felt you are suffering from memory loss and I thought you will be happy seeing me but your reaction made me confused.

Avni looked down not having answer of his question. Indeed his actions justified. Her hand was still in his hold and he was waiting impatiently for her to say something.

Avni: vo I thought you forgot me and

Neil: what

He almost shouted hearing her.

Neil: repeat again

Avni: I I thought you forgot me

Neil: are you serious? Why would I forget you?

Avni: then you also didn't initiate the talk

Neil: haa toh I was shocked seeing you after so long

Avni: hmm

She smiled softly and he chuckled.

Neil: we both are mad instead of talking we kept thinking nonsense

Avni: especially you memory loss seriously?

He laughed and looked ahead finally feeling better after talking with her. Their hands were clasped together and he didn't feel like to take it back. He felt like he was alive again. Avni glanced at him then at their hands. Her heart felt contented and eyes shone. She just wished time to get stopped so that she can live this moment to the fullest and he just wished her beside him forever.
