I leaned against the door frame to the doctor's lounge, pursing my lips and considering Jackie for a long moment.
Maybe I'm being presumptuous.
Maybe my intuition is correct.
It is yet to fail me, but in this case....I can only hope to be wrong...
I stood up straight, and knocked the hard wood of the frame, her head rising upon my entry.
Safe to say she looks less than happy to see me.
"If you leave right now I'll know for a fact you're avoiding me." I folded my arms.
She looked away,and continued to write before saying "What do you want, V?"
I raised a brow and said "What do I want? Jackie, I came her to find out what's got you so pissed off at me, Elijah and Sienna."
She put her pen down and said "You knew....you knew, just how hard i worked last year to climb up those rankings. You... you didn't even want to get on the diagnostics team to begin with!"
My eyes widened and I said "What does that have to do with anything!?"
"It was so obvious Ethan had a soft spot for you, I didn't think you would sleep with him though!*

My heart sank.
so impossibly low.....
That even one of my friends think what everyone else has ever thought about me since the rumours started....
"... what?"
She looked away and said "It makes sense. Your interest in the team. His soft spot for you. Damn it V, can't you see how unfair this is to the rest of us? We worked so hard...and then because of whatever you two have going on-"
Fighting back tears I held my hand up to her and said "Stop. The fact that you would think... that I got my position on the team because of my relationship, Jackie, Naveen chose me for that spot. Not Ethan....he didn't want me on the team for that reason and I didn't want to be there either, because we wanted to be together."
Her eyes widened and I said "I expected it from nurses who don't know me. But...you? How could you think I'd sleep with him to get ahead?" The tears were falling now, freely....although it would be impossible to tell if they were out of anger? or the pain i couldn't speak with simple words....

I shook my head and said "... don't..."
Before turning on my heel and leaving the room, each droplet stinging as I made my way as fast as possible from yet another person who would hurt me....intentionally.... or not.
