I sat in Derry roasters with Sienna early one morning, a good two weeks after new year. The snow from the previous day melted to nothing but ice and sludge, and the new year seeming as bright and welcoming as ever.
"You weren't kidding when you said it was her ring huh?" She said as I discreetly slid over Vs ring to her across the table.
"It's perfect for her. If I was to choose something it would be this exactly. Small, dainty and delicate..." I smiled softly.
"How old is it?" She said as she looked from the box to me.
"It goes back generations. The oldest picture was one my dad has from the 20s."
"She's going to love it doctor Ramsey. You know she loves meaningful things. And small and delicately jewelry."
"Yes. I'm thinking that her wedding band she'll choose herself, anything she wants. I suppose it will be something old and something new." I closed the box and tucked it away safely in my pocket.
"Oh I'm so excited. Can spring just...hurry up already!"
I chuckled and said "I feel the same. Although I'm incredibly nervous."
"You shouldn't be! You know she wants to marry you, what could possibly go wrong?"
"Oh i suppose. It's just she doesn't know I want to marry her in the way she wants to marry me. She knows I'm entertaining it but in her mind, that means never."
"And you'll prove her wrong and it'll be the happiest day of your lives...well. second because the wedding is meant to be that."
I chuckled and nodded. "You're right. God... she's going to make the most beautiful bride..."
"She will. She's so pretty but her in a wedding dress? Wow..."
I smiled and nodded "wow indeed. But I need to get back to my beautiful bride to be before she wakes up. Thank you for the proposal ideas and help."
"Of course! Always here to help."
We got up and I ordered a takeaway coffee for Valerie and myself as I said to doctor Trinh "so. Doctor monroe-"
