After coming home from the night shift, safe to say V and I were besides ourselves and needed to sleep more than ever. Almost immediately we had fallen asleep the moment our heads hit the pillow.
But now...
I looked down to my side, half asleep to see where Valerie wasn't. Her side of the bed still warm and of course tinted by her perfume.
"Valerie?" I yawned, looking for her about the room, and eventually my eyes settled on her tired form, curdled up in the chair gazing out the window at the snow...
"Sweetheart, is everything okay?" I sat up slightly.
She looked over to me and said "oh I'm sorry did I wake you?"
"Whenever your not besides me I can tell " I smiled softly.
She smiled softly and wrapped her open blouse around her as she said "I was just watching the snow...I'm tired but...I don't want to miss a moment of it falling..."
There was a childlike wonder in her eyes as she watched on, enamoured by each flake that floated down into the busy street below, her smile never leaving.
"Come on to my side. We can watch it together."
I moved over to her side and she came over, coming back under the blanket as I pulled her close, nestling into her curls.
"Mm I like this view..."
"Me too..." I kissed the curve of her neck.
"...If I go to sleep now, do you think it will still be snowing when i wake-up?"
I already felt myself falling back asleep as I said "only one way to find out...but if you wake up again the view will be right there..."
She yawned and said "I suppose your right..."
And with that, she turned over, as I pulled her closer to me, smoothing her hair down and kissing her crown....

It was early morning when I next awoke, the light coming through the windows from outside and the sound of the streets much busier. The feel of Ethan's hand soothingly up and down my back made me smile against him.
"Are you staring this time doctor Ramsey?" I giggled into his chest.
"Not at all. Would could have given you the impression?"
