You sat at the window inside the building looking around for any signs of the dead. Since the world has turned to shit you've been alone, of course you met people here and there and helped them out but you had your own path and so did they. You grabbed your belt that held your knives and holstered your gun before heading out, you slipped your bandana on around your face before slipping your helmet on and taking off. You needed more supplies and perhaps a better place to camp out at, especially since this place was rotting inside and out.

You rode around the small outlet shops in a nearby town before heading to the bigger mall to scavenge more supplies, after this your plan was to head into the woods and head north to find a better camp site for yourself. You absolutely did not mind being alone, in a way you kind of preferred it.

"What is that?" Rick asked as Daryl appeared from behind some trees with squirrels on a rope "Sounds like a damn four-wheeler." Daryl looked around before he spotted you riding in the distance "C'mon!" Daryl ran after you as Rick followed, they had no idea who you were but they were going to find you.

You came to a stop as two men stood in front of you, one of the men looking pretty well dirty as he held a rope with dead squirrels on them "Who ta hell are you?" He held a cross bow up and pointed it towards you "Daryl." Rick touched his shoulder but his friend didn't budge.

You slipped your helmet off along with your mask and they both noticed you as a female "Why don't you put that down, red neck?" You got off your four-wheeler and stood in front of it "Why are ya following us?" You raised an eyebrow "You were following me." You point out.

"My names Rick, sorry about Daryl. How long have you been out here?" You shrug "Since it began, when the outbreak hit I had just come back from deployment." Rick nods "You're military?" He asks you nod "I am or I was anyway, it's not exactly like I'm working now-n-days." He chuckled and nodded "Are you alone?" He asks "Yes I am, the names Y/n by the way." Rick nods "Nice to meet you Y/n, we have a base camp set up if you'd like we could bring you back with us." You crossed your arms and shrugged.

"I couldn't do that, no one there knows me they might fear I'm psycho and going to kill you all in your sleep." You looked at Rick who shifted his weight "Why would you-"

"I met a group about a month ago, they stayed with me for a week before they tied me to a tree and took all of my supplies would've taken Baby too if I hadn't hidden the keys to her." You nodded to your four-wheeler and he nods "You don't hit me as one to kill anyone else, so please come back with us we need the extra hands. And you're military." You nod.

"Okay, where to?" Rick nods and looks around "Just South of here." Daryl speaks up "His bike crashed we loaded it into the back of my truck, can he ride with you. I'll have all of our supplies in the truck with me." Rick looks at you hoping you could see past the dirty rough mess of Daryl "Ever been on one before?" Daryl's eyes looked up to meet yours and he nodded his head 'yes' making you nod as well "Aight, get on then. But I'm driving, red neck." He looks at you and as he walks past you could swear you saw a smiling playing on his lips.

You got back onto your ATV along with Daryl and Rick who sat on the front holding onto the bars "Ya better be careful." Daryl wraps his hands around the bars behind the seat and you chuckle "I don't go slow, so you better hold on back there." You pulled off and headed out of the woods towards Rick's truck which was 4 feet down the road from where you exited the woods "Thanks for the lift." Rick hopped off and walked towards the truck "Anytime." You responded smoothly.

"You can follow me back to the camp, if you can keep up." Rick joked making you smirk "Oh, I can keep up." You assure him, he chuckled and slipped into the truck before driving in front of you.

"Why'd ya stay out here alone?" You heard Daryl ask from behind you "Because, I had no one else. Plus I am better on my own." You heard him make a noise in response it sounded more like a grunt.

"Why are you so closed up?" You ask he didn't respond, you ignored it and stayed focus on following Rick back to their base camp.

"I just don't get on with people." Daryl spoke quietly "Well red neck, you got on with me pretty fine." You looked back at him for a second and saw the same smile playing on his lips "Don't get cocky." Was all his response was.

You made it back their base camp and saw it was a prison "Ever been in one before?" You nodded "Yeah, visiting my dad once then my brother a couple years later." Daryl looked at you before walking inside with you and Rick.

"Everybody meet Y/n, we met her out there and I decided to bring her back here." Rick introduces you "Hey Dixon get your eyes back into your head." You looked over at Daryl as he turned his gaze to another guy standing in the small crowd of people.

"Shut up, Asian boy." Daryl's rough voice spoke "Hi, my names Carol this is Beth and Maggie their sisters." You nod and look at the three ladies in front of you "You already know my name." Carol smiles before looking at Rick.

"We don't have a cell set up for another person yet." She informs him "She can stay in mine." Daryl offered that before disappearing outside "I'll show to his cell." You followed behind Rick as he walked you through the small section of the prison they had.

"Look about Daryl." Rick started.

"Don't. He is who is, you just gotta read between the lines with him, he means well I can see that. He's just a lone wolf red neck, and I get that." Rick smiles "I'm really glad you do, the cell we are going to put you in is locked and we didn't expect to-"

"Rick stop, y'all let me here and I'll take whatever you give me." You cut him off and he smiles "I hope you like it here." You nod "I already do." You smile towards him as he walks off.

Later that night you slowly made your way to the cell "What're you doin?" You asked watching Daryl fit some clothes on the floor as a make shift mattress "Makin a bed, what does it look like?" He answers.

"Why?" You ask "So I have place to sleep." He looks up at you with his plain Jane expression and you could see the 'duh' look in his eyes "I'll sleep on the floor, you take the bed." You protest.

"Nah I ain't gonna do a lady like that." You cross your arms "Well you aren't sleeping on the floor." He stands up and stares you in the eyes "And neither are you." He protests "I have to, because you're getting the bed." After that statement you landed on the soft part of the bed.

"Then we'll both sleep in the bed, now go ta sleep." Daryl whispers "Whatever red neck." You mutter shifting to get comfortable "Lay still." He groans "I'm getting comfortable!" You whisper with a bit of sass.

Your movements were stopped as you felt him wrap his arms around your waist and pull your back against his chest "Now go ta sleep." He whispers again, you got a small smile and decided to be cocky.

"You definitely like me, don't ya red neck?" You felt him take in a deep breath before exhaling.

"Yeah sure, now go ta sleep." Daryl shifted his head a bit so he was closer to you and you smiled "You definitely do, night Daryl." You closed your eyes and just as you were drifting to sleep.

You felt Daryl's grip tighten a bit "Night sunshine." His rough voice spoke.
