"See you tomorrow!" Kate tells us with a smile as the group collectively walks to collect their bags from their cubbies.
Rehearsal was okay today, it was the same bland choreography repeated over and over again, but it was the boring type of rehearsal that the team needed.
Ever since I arrived at the studio, it's been rarer to have days without drama. Usually every time I set foot into the studio I'm involved in this bullshit rivalry that Emily is so persistent on holding up, or I'm watching Riley and James argue about anything under the sun- so it's been a nice change today, a boring one some might say, but it's better than the constant petty arguments.
"Hey Michelle, James and I are grabbing juice from Squeezed if you'd like to tag along?" Riley offers politely with a gentle tap on my shoulder.
Our cubby holes are right next to each other, so we often end up grabbing juice after dance.
I see James' face drop from beside her, I know that he wants to keep their little juice date as just that- a date.
A date that's oblivious to Riley but completely apparent to James, it's cute, I really am starting to like them as a couple, they're such an odd pairing, and they bicker like an old married couple, but they do say opposites attract- and anyone can see that they both have a thing for each other, even if Riley won't admit it.
I share a look with James, I've been assigned to be his wingwoman, not that I had much choice in the matter, he was very pushy when it came down to it, but I didn't mind. His look tells me to decline Riley's offer, and I'm feeling helpful, so that's exactly what I'm going to do.
"Sorry, I've got a load of homework and I'm really behind, maybe tomorrow?" I ask her with a bright smile, trying my best to conceal my lie.
It's not a total lie, I do have homework, but it can all be done with after an hour or so, but Riley doesn't need to know that.
Her eyebrows crease together and she exhales a deep breath, huffing from her nostrils- I think she was counting on me to separate her and James.
I don't know why she's so against it, but maybe she's just trying to convince herself that she doesn't have a thing for James, which is a complete lie, or else she wouldn't have agreed to grab juice with him in the first place.
"It's okay, I'll see you tomorrow then, I guess," she tells me, hiding her disappointment with a fake smile.
I laugh at her crappy attempt of a lie and watch as James grabs her hand to pull her away from me, leading her out of the studio.
She quickly snaps her hand away from his, but she follows reluctantly behind him like I'm sure he know she would.
A smile creeps on to my lips as I watch the pair stroll down the hall together, god just looking at them makes me feel single as hell, I need to find a guy.
