Well here it is, the big day has finally arrived.
Today is the start of the new dance season, the first step on our way to regionals. Today is the day that miss Kate and Chris are auditioning for the 10 spots that are up for grabs on A-troupe. I'm not worried, of course, I'm practically guaranteed a spot on the team, I'm just auditioning for the fun of it, really. I want to.

I need to show these new dancers who they're playing with if they think that they can get on to my team. I have my ideal team picked out, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to get that team to win regionals.
I am the dance captain after all, and it's my duty to make sure that we win.
It's in my blood really, I was dance captain last year, and I've been dancing at The Next Step ever since I was three; dance is just a part of me at this point, so if the dancers auditioning today want to get on my team, then they're going to have to prove that they're worth the oxygen they take up at my dance studio.
After all, there can only be one star under the spotlight.
"Em, are you ready? Hurry up, please, you know I can't leave without you, and we're gonna be late!" My younger sister Riley calls from downstairs.
She's always so paranoid and nervous, she just wants to be punctual, and I respect that, I would want to be punctual too if I knew I didn't have the whole studio wrapped around my little finger. She's a great dancer, don't get me wrong, with a bit more training she'll be up to my level, but not just yet.

I call upstairs for Emily, she's taking far too long to get ready and I can't be late. Not on the first day of the season, it's my A-troupe audition today, and if I don't make the team, I'm not sure what I'll do.
Emily keeps promising me that she'll get me on the team because we're sisters, but I don't want to be on A-troupe because she's my sister, I want to be on A-troupe because I'm a good dancer.
I'm just so nervous that this year I won't make it, I'm nervous that I won't be good enough anymore. I was on A-troupe last year, the youngest member, 15, but I knew it was because Emily practically begged miss Kate to let me on the team.
