"You're dismissed," Lucien hums, his tone complacent as he rolls his eyes, clapping his hands at us to tell us to get out of his sight.

I look around the room, observing the quick movements of the dancers, who all rush to the door that leads to the locker rooms.

I inhale a sharp and nervous breath, following the rest of the team as I try to avoid eye contact with Lucien.

I haven't spoken to him directly since the monthly weigh in, and I really don't plan on doing that any time soon.

He's a horrible son of a bitch but I really don't need anymore drama from him, enough is enough. I just need to make it through, that's the bare minimum. Hopefully after regionals I can return to The Next Step, but I can't do that yet. I can't admit that I was wrong, I won't allow myself to be painted as a fool by the people I once considered family.

Steph told me that Daniel has sprained his ankle or something, and that they're looking to replace the tenth member of the team. She hinted at me returning to the studio, but I can't give in like that. I'm stronger than that, I won't succumb to their pity just because I'm not having a good time at Elite.

They wanted me to leave, they all voted against me to elect Michelle as dance captain, I lost my title to a girl that's been at the studio for less than four months, so if they think I'm just going to go back to save their asses, then they're all very badly mistaken.

Even Riley wanted me to leave, there's no chance in hell that I'd go back to that twisted environment and play nice with those motherfuckers.

My hand touches the cold metal of the door handle, and I grasp my fingers around it harshly, pulling the door open as I take a step inside of the girls locker room.

"Emily," Lucien's voice sends a rough chill down my spine, and I freeze in my tracks, unable to move as my heart rate begins to race. "I want you to stay behind."

He wants me to stay behind, why the hell would he want me to do that? What the hell has he got to say to me, how could he possibly want to ruin my life even more?

"W-why?" I speak in a low whisper, my voice a mere tremble as I struggle to say the singular syllable.

I feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, my chest tightening as my breathing becomes heavier from the nervousness I feel rushing through my body.

"You're one of my top choices of the month," he clarifies, his voice demonic as he snickers slightly, and without turning to face him I know that his face is painted with a sinister smirk.

One of his top choices.

The comment Cierra made has been playing on my mind for days now, and I've spent countless hours trying to work out what the hell she was talking about when she said that.
