Rin x Reader: Midnight Swim

-2nd POV-

You couldn't sleep at all. You had tried to seep for the past 3 hours and all you could do was stare at the ceiling. It was 11:30 pm and you still couldn't seep. You refused to call or text Rin since you didn't want to bother him.

He had been your friend since elementary and you always kept in touch. Truth be told, you developed a huge crush for him. At this point, it's definitely more than just a crush. You refused to ask him for help to sleep.

Your sister(if you don't have one now you do) knew you couldn't sleep. You always fell asleep by 9:00 pm sharp. She felt something was off since yesterday when you came back home from a trip with some friends.

What happened on the trip? Well, your friends were completely fake. You trusted them with the secret of your crush and they went and made fun of you. They also threatened you, if you didn't do whatever they told you they'd tell everyone.

You didn't want that to happen. You had no idea if Rin felt the same way. If he didn't it could ruin your friendship. If he did you'd be the happiest person on the planet. The odds of that were 2%. They made you do stuff you never want to do again.

They made you dunk your head in the toilet, go to school with none of your supplies, and they went as far as making you massage their feet. They wanted you to stick a girl in the toilet tomorrow and you really didn't want to.

It was time to choose if you cared more about your secret crush or the dignity of another innocent girl. You tried to think of ways to not have to choose either and it wasn't working. Your sister knew you were overthinking something and texted Rin for help.

Sister: Rin are you awake?

Shark Boi: I am now. What's wrong?

Sister: (Y/N) is still awake.

Shark Boi: Is she ok? Is something bothering her?

Sister: I don't know. She won't tell me. Talk to her, please.

Shark Boi: Okay, just make sure you explain to your parents.

Sister: Ok.

He closed his text with her and started texting you instead.

My Sharky 🦈: (Y/N), meet me at the Sumezuka pool at midnight.

You: What for?

My Sharky 🦈: Just trust me.

You: Okay, I'll meet you there in 10.

You got dressed and packed a swimsuit just in case. You knew Rin a little too well. You grabbed your bag and left through your window so your parents wouldn't see you. But, your sister already told them everything 2 minutes before.

The pool door was open and you walked in. "Rin?" You called out to him to get a response. You really hoped this wasn't another trick. You wouldn't be able to trust someone again.

You felt hands on your shoulders and you flinched. But, you immediately relaxed knowing it was Rin. "Did you bring a swimsuit?" You nodded and he grinned, "Let's go for a swim."

You jumped into the water and felt so refreshed. "If only I could stay here forever." You were floating on the water. It wasn't unusual for you to say that, but you said it in a tone Rin didn't like. He stared at you and you noticed. "Rin, why are you staring?"

"What are you hiding from me?" He asked bluntly.

You were on your feet and looked at him. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

He swam closer and held your hands under the water looking directly at you. The moonlight came in at a perfect time and it made your face shine making him look at you in awe. "You look beautiful." He accidentally let out.

He blushed immediately after and avoided meeting your gaze as your face was beet red. "Was there a reason for me being here?"

He snapped back to reality, "Something's wrong. You barely talked to me yesterday and today and now you aren't sleeping. Your sister is worried and so am I. When I heard your tone when you said you wanted to stay in the water it was like if someone was threatening you."

You lowered your head and Rin wanted to know who made you upset. You whispered her name and his eyes widened. "Ex-(Bff/N)? She was behind this? I'm sorry, (Y/N)."

You shook your head. "Don't be. I'm always gonna end up with some fake friends. It's my own fault for trusting her. You reap what you sow."

Rin pulled you into a tight hug. "You didn't deserve any of this. You're a wonderful person and friend."

You pushed him back tears threatening to fall, "S-sorry I h-have to go." You tried to reach the end of the pool, but Rin was a faster swimmer than you. He blocked your way, "Rin, move."

"Not until you tell me what's wrong. Ex-(Bff/N) was fake. Yet, there's something you're not telling me, what is it, please just tell me." At this point, he was just begging for an explanation. You kept saying you couldn't and that he would never see you the same way again. "I've been by your side for years. Trust me, please."

You told him everything. "Well, that and they blackmailed me." Rin urged you to continue and you bit your bottom lip. "I like you." You whispered lowly. He didn't hear you and asked for a repetition. "I'm in love with you!"

Rin was shocked by the sudden shout. You tried to leave again, but he grabbed your arm and pulled you in for a kiss. You kissed him back with no hesitation. Your hands were messing with his hair and his were still holding onto your arms. He finally pulled away, "You have no idea how long I've been dying to hear that." He chuckles.

You gave him a hug and cried. "I'm so happy. Thank you." He hugged you back. After a while of swimming, he took you home and you were finally back to normal. He had to carry you because you fell asleep.

The next day the girls went up to you and you refused to listen to them any longer. Your fake friend yelled for the entire hallway to hear, "Hey, (Y/N) is in love with Rin Matsuoka!"

Everyone started laughing, whispering, commenting, etc. Then your face showed a giant grin when you heard a voice from behind. "Yeah, Rin Matsuoka is also her boyfriend." Rin walked into your school wrapping an arm around your shoulders. "Now, if anybody messes with her they mess with me. Is that clear?" Everyone nodded.

Your Ex-(Bff/N) was speechless along with her female friend group. Rin kissed your lips, whispered something in your ear, and walked out. He said, "I'll see you at the pool at midnight again. We found something to do as a couple every day now. I love you."

You blushed slightly and texted him since he already left.

You: I love you too 💖💖

You walked to class satisfied leaving your enemies in the dust. No one messes with Rin's girlfriend.
