With the biggest yawn of her life, Loriatte sat up and stretched her stiff muscles, eyes still heavy with sleep.
That's funny, I don't remember my bed being this hard and cold.
It was when she placed her palms on the cold surface that she realized that she wasn't on her bed but her living room floor.
She rubbed her eyes to fully wake herself up then looked around confused, "how the fu-" she paused mid-sentence when she heard voices coming from her kitchen, telling her that she was not alone.
Then remembering the intruder and his attack on her, she jumped up to her feet, like some bootleg ninja who missed every single training.
This time she would be ready for him.
With careful and quiet steps, she picked up the first object that caught her eye and looked to be good enough for a weapon, which was one of her slippers.
Slowly and as quiet as a mouse, she crawled towards the kitchen that was separated from the living room by a white slab of wall that didn't go the entire way, just a half demarcation to hide the small kitchen from the rest of the living room.
"You see Zay? I'm always right, but your hard head doesn't ever listen to me," she heard one of the voices say.
"Okay but to be fair, had I listened to you, I wouldn't have made it on time to prevent another kidnapping. So, in a way, I'm the hero in this situation, so you're welcome," responded a voice that sounded a bit too familiar to her.
With a war cry and without giving it too much thought, Loriatte jumped out from hiding and immediately threw the slipper at the nearest person her eyes first landed on.
"Ow!" The person cried out, rubbing the spot on their forehead, "and exactly what was that supposed to do!?" He questioned angrily.
"You!" Loriatte shrieked, glaring at the familiar rude man with a finger pointed at him, "what are you doing in my house!? And what did you do to me!?"
"Miss," the other man spoke up, his tone gentle with a reassuring smile on his face, "we can explain ourselves and clear all your confusions, but first we need you to calm down," he held up his hands towards her- a sign to show that he meant no harm.
Loriatte subtly gave him a once over.
He had shoulder length hair that was somewhere between blonde and brown, which he had in a half-up-half-down style, he was as tall as the rude man and just as lean, they looked oddly similar in fact, although there was an obvious hint of kindness in his face that the other man didn't possess, and he had that faint smile nice people always sported.
The one thing Loriatte noticed the most of all, were his gorgeous green eyes, scarily similar to the rude man's own pair.
Are they related?
"Calm down!? Calm down!? I wake up on my living room floor with no idea of how in the hell I got there and find two strangers in my kitchen, and you're telling me to calm down!?" She yelled as she grabbed a spatula and threw it at the same rude guy, the one she was more familiar with, "you calm down!"
"Shi- ow! Quit that woman!" He glared at her as he rubbed his now throbbing nose.
She was about to grab something else when the other- much nicer guy- stepped up to her with his hands out in front of him.
"I think we got off on the wrong foot here...I'm Chief Detective Zenith Harrison and this is my younger brother, Detective Zayden Harrison," the man said while holding out a hand for Loriatte to shake, but after an awkward couple of seconds of his outstretched hand hanging in the air, he slowly pulled it back after noticing how the girl looked at it as if it had some sort of disease.
