Yawning, Loriatte sat up as she stretched her stiff muscles.

That's funny, I don't remember my bed being this hard and cold.

It was when she placed her palms on the cold surface that she realized that she wasn't on her bed but her living room floor.

She looked around confused, "how the fu-" she paused mid-sentence when she heard voices coming from her kitchen.

With a careful motion, she stood up and picked up the first object that caught her eye, one of her slides. Keeping a steady pace, she crawled towards the kitchen, separated from the living room by a sleek gray marble countertop island.

"You see Zay? I'm always right, but your hard head don't ever listen to me," she heard one of the voices say.

"If I had followed your advice, I wouldn't have made it on time to prevent another kidnapping. So, in a way, I'm the hero of this situation," responded a voice that sounded familiar.

With a war cry, Loriatte jumped out of hiding and immediately threw the slipper at the nearest person her eyes first landed on.

"Ow!" The person cried rubbing the spot on their forehead, "and what was that supposed to do??" He questioned angrily.

"You!" Loriatte shrieked, glaring at the familiar man who she met yesterday, "what are you doing in my house!? And what did you do to me!?"

"One question at a time miss," the other man spoke up, "look we can explain, but first we need you to calm down," he held up his hands at her- a sign to show that he meant no harm.

"Calm down!? Calm down!? I woke up on my living room floor with no idea how in the hell I got there and find two strangers in my kitchen, and you're telling me to calm down!?" She yelled as she grabbed a spatula and threw it at the same rude guy she was more familiar with, "you calm down!"

"Shi-Ow! Quit that woman!" He glared at her as he rubbed his throbbing nose.

She was about to grab something else when the other-much nicer guy-stepped up to her with his hands in front of him.

"I think we all got off on the wrong foot here...I'm Chief Detective Zenith Harrison and this is my brother Detective Zayden Harrison," the man said holding out a hand for Loriatte to shake, he slowly pulled his hand back when the dark girl looked at it as if it had some sort of disease.

"Look I know how bad all this looks, but trust me when I say that we're the last people you should be afraid of," the rude guy, who she now knew as Zayden spoke.

For some reason, she felt like she could trust them, so she slowly stepped away from the knife drawer.

"You have five minutes to explain all of this."

The two brothers looked at each other, "that's all we need," the older said.

"Well start talking," she folded her arms, giving them a pointed look.

"Well miss we believe your life could be in danger," the nice one, Zenith said.

She scoffed, "shi-working for that old man, my life was always in danger, I swear he could've killed me one day with those nasty ass looks he'd throw at me."

Zayden rolled his eyes.

Zenith cleared his throat, "see my brother here, believed- I don't know for whatever reason-that you somehow had a hand on your boss's kidnapping and-"
