"Merdé, merdé, merdé!"
Loriatte's eyes widened when she saw one of the men pull out a silver-grey gun and aimed it inside the van, waisting no time in pulling the trigger.
Loriatte's jumped in her seat, her heart sinking at the loud bang that rang out through the rainy night.
"Oh my God!" She cried with her trembling hands going to her mouth, her heart thumping in fear and disbelief of what she just witnessed.
"Useless piece of-ugh!" She hit her wet glitching phone on the dashboard of the car in anger, now wishing more than ever that she had updated to the latest waterproof phone like everybody else, "oh poor Zayden Henrison," she pouted, letting her head fall to her knees as tears freely fell from her eyes.
Sure, she didn't like the boy, but that didn't mean he deserved to die such an untimely death, he was young- she thinks- and had his whole life ahead of him, maybe could've had a wife and a few kids, a cat or a dog, or both, adopting one more kid just because and buying a family farm home in the middle of nowhere or something like that, white people liked those kinds of stuff, right?
"Poor, poor young Zayden Henrison! He was so young and kind of filled with life! He didn't even get to solve the case, ugh this is all my fault, I'm a murderer!" She cried, her whole body shaking with despair.
"Yes you are, now go write yourself a life sentence for your horrible crime."
Loriatte's head snapped up so hard that she almost snapped her neck, her face contorted in horror as if she was seeing a ghost- which to be fair, felt like she was, "Zay-Zayde-h-how? Y-you-shots, shots fired-gun-bang bang-how!?" She couldn't stop the hiccups and tears from escaping, already too deep in the sadness to stop crying, seeing him alive and well.
"It's a miracle, but I lived, do not be afraid, young one," Zayden sighed dramatically, running his fingers through his wet hair which now looked a dark brown colour, "and it's Harrison."
He then began shaking his head like some dog, not caring that he was getting water everywhere, Loriatte cringed at the water droplets that landed on her.
She punched him on the shoulder out of frustration, "dude! Tell me what happened! You had me terrified, I saw you get shot!" She wiped away the water droplets on her face with the sleeve of her coat.
"No, you did not see me get shot, you saw him shoot at something in the van, I was already out of the van when you dropped your phone," Zayden explained, "wait, were you crying for real? Awe you care about me," he cooed, even went as far as to cup her face in his hands and wipe away the remaining tears on her cheeks with the pads of his thumbs.
"I just thought I witnessed a murder, so of course I'm gonna cry, I don't give two flying fucks about you," she scoffed, pushing away his hands.
"Ouch," he pouted, faking a hurt face, "you're upset, I'm going to let it slide."
"How did you even get in the car without me noticing, and what were they even shooting at?" She asked as she wiped away the remaining bit of tears in her eyes after she had calmed down.
"I told you, I made it out when you dropped your phone and was back into the car before you came back in, you were too worried about your obviously cheap phone to even notice me sitting right next to you, and that van had a couple of rats, they were probably shooting at those," he laid it out for her.
Remembering the van and the gunshot, she looked up just in time to see them unloading the boxes out of the van and taking them into the warehouse.
"Did you find out what's in the boxes?" She asked, patting her face to rid it of any remaining tears.
