Zayden was not someone who usually showed his emotions or was openly affectionate, but as he gazed at the peaceful figure of the woman dozing off on the opposite sofa, he felt his heart racing with a type of longing he had never experienced before.

It was just her existence.

He tried to deny his feelings for the longest time but couldn't any longer.

When he had opened the door to that darn office and met those dark eyes for the first time, his heart fluttered in his chest, but he didn't understand it then.

When Loriatte threw that damn shoe at his face and looked at him as if she wanted to crush him with a car, he didn't understand it then, but he felt it.

When he kissed her to 'shut her up', his heart nearly jumped out of his chest to reach out to her, and maybe that was when he slowly began to fight his feelings.

During the three-day coma when she was unconscious, he couldn't sleep and spent the time watching over her, hoping she would recover. It was then that he started to realize that his mean and tough-guy persona towards her was just an attempt to hide his true feelings for the journalist.

How strange that they crossed paths and were brought together in such unlikely circumstances, yet she had quickly become someone he cared so deeply for, but he couldn't even begin to explain exactly what he felt for her.

All he knew was that he always wanted to be around her, he liked watching her peaceful face as she slept, and absolutely loved her gorgeous smile that would simply melt away all negatives thoughts and feelings in even the worlds angriest man.

And oh how he loved getting lost in her dark eyes that pulled him in. Lord knows she had him wrapped around her finger, but she just didn't know it.

"You're a creep, you know that?" Her voice croaked out through the silence, bringing him out of his head.

His heart skipped a beat, and he felt a rush of emotion as he gazed at her sitting up, marveling at how every little thing she did stirred his feelings.

The fluffy yellow blanket pooled around her hips, she rubbed at her eyes stifling a yawn.

"Good morning, Loriatte" he cracked a smile at finally being able to say her name, wanting to stand up and bring her to his arms and once again feel the warmth he felt when he hugged her the previous night. But he didn't, he couldn't. What would be his excuse this time around? She wasn't crying anymore.

"Morning yourself, creepa," she hummed ignoring the flutter in her chest at hearing him say her name, "what time is it?"

"5:45 am." He said after looking up at the clock on the wall for a split second before fixing his eyes back down on her.

He couldn't stop staring at her after the realisation he had come to.

He liked liked her.

It was as scary as it was exciting.

"I'm going back to sleep," but just as she cocooned herself back in the blankets, preparing to return to sleep, the sound of the ringing house phone shattered the silence. Being the nearest, she hastened to the small glass table and answered the phone.

"Hello?" ... "Oh hi, Zenith," she turned to face Zayden who still had his eyes on her.

"Uhm yeah he's awake too...I don't know...right now? Can't it wait? Oh okay, I'll tell him, give us thirty minutes...cool, bye."

Zayden raised a questioning brow at her after she placed the phone back down.

She sighed, waddling back to him with her blanket, "your brother wants us to go down to the department for whatever reason, we got thirty minutes."
