After handing the car keys to the valet, Zayden strode with Loriatte through the opulent lobby where he barely acknowledged the receptionist's polite welcome, too focused on getting everything over done with as to finally get rid of the girl.
With a small apologetic smile towards the man at the reception, Loriatte hurried to catch up with Zayden's brisk pace towards the elevators, where they silently rode to the 25th floor of the building- which she learnt was the highest and last floor.
Once off the elevator, she trailed Zayden who stomped through two large double doors and into a secluded foyer that seemed to only lead to a single door, most likely the entrance to a penthouse given it was the only door on the entire floor.
She followed behind him sadly and quietly, the quietest she'd been since meeting Zayden.
Of course she didn't want to just sit locked away in some place, not allowed to leave while a good story played out in the same city she lived in.
The door opened before Zayden could even put in the security passcode, revealing a grinning Zenith.
"Pleased to see you again, my fair lady," he bowed.
Zayden rolled his eyes, pushing past him and walking into the penthouse.
"Did you rehearse that, Zenith?" Loriatte giggled, placing her hand in Zenith's awaiting one.
"Maybe," he grinned widely and then pulled her into the house.
He led her by the hand through the short entrance hallway decorated with various paintings on both walls, and to an open-plan living room and kitchen.
She was left speechless by the vast living room that had a black and white décor with soaring windows that reach from floor to ceiling, bringing in tons of natural lighting and further exaggerating the wide space.
A set of white plush couches were perfectly arranged in the center of the room, oriented towards a huge smart TV mounted on the wall, and in the middle of the couches was a black glass coffee table.
Loriatte stared at the place in silence, she was too shocked to even speak.
She wondered if this was her new living arrangement, she wouldn't have minded it at all.
Never in her life had she imagined that she would ever live in a place so high class with the lousy pay from her job, and yet there she was- it was basically being handed to her, that was, if it was her new living arrangement for the whole 24/7 protection thing.
She had big dreams of a better life of course, but definitely not billionaire penthouse big.
"H-how on earth can you afford this, and for me?" She finally managed to ask, her eyes still roaming around.
Zenith opened his mouth to answer but was interrupted by Zayden who came out of one of the many doors, wiping his wet hands on his pants.
"I can afford it very well, thanks, this is my place, we're only stopping here because Zenith said to meet here first," Zayden motioned towards his brother, and Loriatte felt all the excitement she had for getting to live in a high-rise penthouse crush down and burn.
"Oh," she said pouting sadly at the revelation, "oh well the thought was nice while it lasted...so where am I going to stay? A shack in the woods maybe," she mumbled the last words disappointed, but it didn't go unnoticed by Zayden who simply raised an eyebrow.
"Here," Zenith grinned while wiggling his eyebrows. She noticed that he was still holding on to her hand, which made her blush, but was quickly knocked back down to earth when her mind registered what he had just said to her.
