It was late in the night when she got the call.

Spending the entire evening with Zenith and teaming up with him to piss Zayden off had her worn out.

When her phone started blasting on her nightstand, her first instinct was to ignore it and fall right back to sleep, but when it rang a second time, and she picked it up without checking the caller ID- not that she could've even seen anything- ready to curse out whoever dared disturb her sleep, her whole world was turned upside down.

"This is a warning," the deep chilling voice woke her up real quick, harsh chills ran down her spine, and she quickly brought the phone away from her ear to see the number of whoever it was.

The phone fell out of her hand as the name displayed big and brightly on her phone screen, even with all the glitching, she could still make out the contact.

'KRISSY KRIS ^.^'

Loriatte was frozen in her bed, not wanting to believe the thoughts that were going through her head. Yet, her racing heart and teary eyes betrayed her unspoken fears.

Then, when Zayden stormed into her room with a grave expression on his face and widened eyes, Loriatte's suspicions were confirmed before he could even say anything.

And then he said, "There was a 911 call, Kris, she..." her world shattered.

The rest of his sentence faded in the background as the sound of her loud cries filled the room. Tears flowed down her cheeks, as she clutched at her heart.

"Please God, please no, no, no," loud sobs left her mouth as she shook her head repeatedly.

Zayden rushed to her, wrapping his arms around her trembling body, his heart hurt for her.

"I'm so sorry, her body was found a few blocks from her apartment, I'm so sorry Lora," Zayden had softly said in her ear as he hugged her tighter, running his hands up and down her back in what he hoped was a comforting enough.

Her wails grew louder and more heartbreaking, she tightly grasped his T-shirt and wept into his chest, pleading to anyone who would listen for it to all be a terrible nightmare. Praying that when she would wake up, she'd be able to take Kris on that shopping trip they had planned on together.

Instead, it was a horrible reality, her reality.

Her friend was dead.

Killed and left out on the street like her life had meant nothing.

And it was all her fault, her stubbornness and forwardness costed her only friend her life.

She should've never went to her house, she should've listened to Zayden when he told her not to go anywhere, she should've listened when he warned her about the possibility of someone following or stalking her when she went to visit Kris, and now Kris was dead all because she wanted to get on Zayden's nerves.

While standing over the closed white casket of her friend, tears streamed down her face as she watched it slowly get lowered six feet below the ground.

The priest recited a farewell prayer, but she couldn't focus on anything other than the reality of the situation.

Her friend had lost her life because someone was willing to go to extreme measures to hide their secrets, and they clearly didn't care who's life they had to take to make sure they got their way. Poor Kris was caught in the crossfire, and all because of her.

This was getting ridiculous and way out of her job description.

Not paying any mind to her surroundings, she found herself on the ground with her legs tucked underneath her.
