"What were you looking for?" Zayden questioned, his palms flat on the table as his intimidating eyes looked down at the scrawny boy.
"For the last time, it wasn't me and I don't know what the heck you're talking about!" the boy, Jason, blinked rapidly at the harsh light shining in his face from the lamp that was unnecessary placed in the room, "and can you turn this damn thing off? Look, you got the wrong guy okay? Just let me go, and I'll stop doing drugs and go home...and I'll even do you a favor by not pressing any charges against you for tackling me on the side of the road and knocking me out, that's assault you know?"
"You ran. Only guilty people run," Zayden shrugged his shoulders.
The boy ignored him, his gaze shifting to the girl who stood behind Zayden watching the scene unfold, leaning on the wall with her arms crossed and the back of her right foot perched up against the wall with an amused glint in her dark eyes.
"Your girl's hot," the boy smirked making Loriatte roll her eyes with a low scoff.
"Hey!" Zayden's hand angrily smacked down hard on the table, startling both Loriatte and the boy.
Loriatte stood up straighter, feeling as if she was the one on the receiving end of Zayden's anger, and the kid cowered back in fear, the smirk instantly vanishing from his face.
"Listen here kid," Zayden slowly began with his voice chillingly deep, sending shivers down both Loriatte and the boy's spines, "my patience with everything about this damn day has been running very, very thin, now you're going to tell me everything you know right now, or you're going to get knocked out again and this time end up in a coma, do you fucking understand?"
The boy quickly nodded .
"Jeez," Loriatte whispered to herself.
Zayden pulled out the plastic with the piece of fabric and threw it at him, "I believe the rest of this belongs to you."
"U-used t-to," he gulped after studying the item, "I-I uhm I-"
"Spit it out, boy!" Zayden roared, his loud voice filling the already tiny room, making Jason feel suffocated as he cowered back in fear.
Jason whimpered, as tears rolled down his face, Lorriate's soft heart clenched at the sight of the poor broken boy in front of them, forgetting that he could've possibly been associated with criminals, even worse, the criminals who took her boss.
Zayden scoffed with a shake of his head, "pathetic."
"Maybe I should take it from here," She stepped forward, speaking softly and carefully, her eyes not leaving the frightened boy.
Her heart went out to the poor kid, he was just a child, a child who was involved with criminals, yes, but a child nonetheless.
There was a reason why he ran away from home, whatever it was, it was bad enough for him to be out on the streets doing Lord knows what.
He was probably confused and going through a rebellious phase, he just needed someone to understand him and set him in the right path, maybe he didn't have anyone to do that for him back home. Loriatte found herself empathising with him.
"I don't need you doing my job," Zayden scoffed.
"I said I'll take it from here, Detective," Loriatte said once again placing a hand on Zayden's muscular arm.
A shiver ran down her spine at the contact, and she had to hold herself back from feeling him up, he was toned.
He must workout a lot, she wondered in her head as she stared at the veiny muscular arm that was exposed due to the short sleeved grey shirt he wore, she wondered what it would be like to trace each vein, with her finger and tong-
