Today, P'Arthit told me that he will be working late on a new assignment. We won't be able to have dinner together like every other day of the week. I can't help, but go to the canteen at our regular meeting time for dinner. I was placing my order for Nomyen because I was feel a little bit lonely. We have been together so much lately it feels strange to not be with him. I guess this means i have it bad... I'm even considering ordering his favourite meal. Which I dislike because of the spice... but it reminds me of him.
When I walk back to the drink stall, I noticed P'Arthit standing there. He noticed me as well, "Kongpob." I smile as he approaches, "Getting something to eat?" He smiles shyly and he just makes a noise in agreement. "How was your calculus grade?" "It was alright" "if you're really struggling, you can transfer to economics faculty. Isn't it your dream? If you want to renter college, I don't think it's a wrong thing." "I can study economics as my masters degree. I'm not going to reenter college." I stop for a moment and turned to look at him, "because I like it... here" once again P'Arthit smiles shyly and avoiding my eyes.
The Auntie puts the Nomyen onto the counter and P'Arthit immediately things that she made a mistake. "I didn't order Nomyen." Then she asked us, "then whose Nomyen is this?" I smile and tell her, "it's mine" I feel P'Arthit looking at me until his drink... Iced Coffee is set on the counter. We ordered each other's drinks. I felt that in this moment we are both trying to understand and accept each other little by little.
As we turned to leave, P'Arthit calls my name, "Uh, Kongpob, I want to give something back to you." I watched as I pulls out his wallet and takes out a gear. I was afraid that he was returning my own gear... my fears were squashed when he places into my hand. While smiling, and he gently said, "Please keep it for me." My smile was beaming and I couldn't stop, "I will with all my heart" I responded exuberantly.
He timidly grabs his drink into his hands and the straw to his mouth while smiling and walks away. I was not going to let him slip away now. "P'Arthit, where are you going? Did you not just order a meal!" "Kongpob!" I look at him as innocently as possible. "I forgot." He smiles sheepishly. "Do you want to seat with me while we wait?" He scratches the back of his neck, "okay."
"Phi, what type of assignment were you assigned? Is it a hard one?" He pondered the question of a moment, "No, I just want to get most of it finished. I prefer to have my weekends free to sleep and hangout with my friends and... you." Every time he acts like this it makes my heart stop... I just want to grab him in the tightest of hugs. "You hang out with me any time! I will always have time for you! If you want you can come over to my dorm and work on your assignment?" "No way! Your too distracting!" I step closer to him, "why am I distracting, P'Arthit?" I bite my lip slightly as I look at him. P'Arthit is stunned and it took him a few seconds to recover. He just flicks my head, "stop being cheesy" "ow, I wasn't... I like being with you! I promise I'll be good!... come on, na!"
Before I could get my answer the shop owner calls out P'Arthit's number and he dashes to pick it up. I thought for sure, I was not going to have my way until he walks up behind me and pushes me to walk. "What are you doing, Phi?" "Aren't we going to my dorm? My assignment information is there, so it would be better if we hang out there instead." I can't hold back my smile as we walked together. With his gear in my pocket and mine with him. We have come full circle, and our feelings have been heard loud and clear. P'Arthit, I'm not saying this to your face, but I know for certain now, I love you.
"Remember you promised to not doing anything funny!" "I swear on my life!" I raised my hands up like I am being interrogated by the police. "Good. You can read one of my books! I have enough.. wait you should trying reading One Piece. It's honestly my favourite one. We can chat about it after you finish!" "Yes, P'Arthit. I would love to read your favourite book." He grabs me by the shoulder and we continue walking. We both have smiles on our faces.
