The estate was huge, with well-trimmed trees and healthy flowers. There were vines crawling up the side of the building, giving it a rustic castle look.
I walked up to the front door and knocked, my back rigid and my face blank. This wasn't my first time being a servant to a noble family, and I sincerely hope it won't be the last, though if that is my fate I would take it.
I heard the lock click and the door squeak open. In front of me was a well-dressed man, his hair completely grey, but I doubted it was from old age.
"Can I help you?" His voice was deep and authoritative.
"Sir, I am Akaashi Keiji. I was hired to be your new servant," I said, keeping my voice flat while clasping my hands behind my back. I knew he wasn't a servant, so he must have been Duke Bokuto.
"I see, well I sincerely hope you are better than the last one," Lord Bokuto said, opening the door for me to enter.
"I think you'll find I'm rather good at my job," I said kindly.
"We'll see. You'll be working with my son first. Kotaro!" The man yelled, looking up a flight of stairs. I took the time to look around the main foyer. It was decked out in dark stained wood with pictures and paintings hung on the walls. There was an alcohol cart right next to the door and a small desk across from it.
A man came down the stairs, his grey and black hair standing on end, and his formal attire completely wrinkled and untucked.
"As you can see, he's not one for appearances. I hope you can knock some civility into him, he is going to embarrass himself one of these days," Lord Bokuto sighed, running a hand down his face. The man stopped in front of us, his wide smile locking onto me. He seemed to look me over slightly before holding out his hand. My instinct kicked in and I scanned the young master. I took his hand, noting his strong grip.
"I'm Bokuto!" He said.
"Akaashi Keiji, a pleasure to be serving you, sir," I said, bowing my head slightly.
"Akaashi, huh? well, it's nice to meet you!" Bokuto-san said, a bright smile on his face that would rival the sun. I turned back to the Nobleman, bowing my head slightly to him too.
"What are my job details, sir?" I asked.
"You'll be the personal servant to my son, whatever he wants, you will do. I want you to make a man out of him, show him how to act. You seem like a well-mannered man, I want you to show him your ways,"
"Father! You can't be serious!" Bokuto-san yelled.
"Hush now, boy! Show your manners!" His father snapped back.
"I will do what I can, sir," I said, trying to contain my disappointment of having such a low job. I wouldn't be able to do much if I had to babysit all day! I briefly wondered how Iwa, Daichi, and Kenma were doing but pushed it out of my mind.
"You are dismissed, I'll let you get acquainted with the place," Nobleman Bokuto said, leaving me and the young master to ourselves.
"I can show you around if you'd like?" Bokuto-san offered and I nodded politely.
"You know, you don't have to act all proper around me," He said, using a deep voice for the word "proper".
"I find it much more professional, and I am here to be of service, not to slump around and have fun," I said matter-of-factually.
"We'll see about that!" Bokuto-san laughed.
He showed me the kitchen, the common room, the different bedrooms, and the servant's quarters. I found the area outside of the mansion particularly interesting. I could immediately tell there was a lot to be done in order to complete my mission, but I would have to handle that another time when Bokuto-san wasn't around.
When the tour was over Bokuto lead me back to his room.
"Thank you for the tour, Bokuto-san. Is there something I can do for you now?" I asked.
"Not right now, you can unpack and all of that," He smiled and I nodded. I maneuvered my way down to the servent's chambers. I had a small room with a dresser, a bed, and a nightstand. there was a small window across from the bed, allowing a little light to filter through. I placed all my clothes in the dresser, hiding a few other belongings under the clothes. My device started chiming and I pulled it out.
Cat: I don't like my charge, does someone want to trade?
Owl: You won't like mine either
Crow: They can't be that bad, I think mine will be pretty easy!
Owl: I was ordered to babysit the Duke's son! I'm supposed to teach him manners and how to act!
Crow: You out of all of us would be better with that, Mr. I-Never-Smile Akaashi
Owl: Just because I take my job seriously doesn't mean I want to teach a brat manners
Aqua: At least yours has decency, mine started flirting with me the moment I stepped through the door. I haven't even seen my Nobleman yet, I've just been taking care of his damn son!
Crow: Yeah, I have to take care of the nobleman's son as well
Cat: Same here
Owl: wait, are all of us in charge of the children of the noblemen, and not the noblemen themselves?
Aqua: I guess?
Cat: Fuck this mission is going to be hard
Crow: Watch your language
Aqua: watch out Kenma, dadaichi is still in the chat
Crow: Oh shut up, all of you. I'm sorry I have to take care of 3 highly trained children and complete my mission! You would think you would be more mature based on the years of training and missions we've had to go on, but Akaashi and I seem to be the only adults here
Owl: Thank you for adding me into the adult category, Dadaichi
Aqua: Damn! Daichi snapped!
Cat: Remind me not to get on Daichi's bad side in person...
A knock directed my attention away from my phone. I opened my door to see one of the other maids standing in front of me. She was wearing a black skirt that went past her knees and a loosely fitting long sleeve shirt that was tucked into the skirt.
"Are you the master's son's new servant?" She asked in a kind voice. I nodded my head.
"I'm the head servant and just wanted to let you know we will be having visitors from the Seijoh foundation. I understand you have some business with the young master before then?" She asked, her voice light and pitchy. I nodded my head again, recognizing the name Seijoh.
"I'll leave you to it then, just wanted to let you know!" She smiled before walking away.
I returned to my phone and switched over to a private message.
Owl: Seems like your foundation is having a visit with mine
Aqua: Is that so? I haven't heard anything, but I've also been too busy being sexually assaulted by my charge to really pay attention.
Owl: You are at the Seijoh family manor?
Aqua: Yeah, but the family name is Oikawa
Owl: Maybe we'll see each other soon
Aqua: And I get to see if your charge is as bad as you say, and you can see just how terrible mine is
I could barely see Iwa putting up with a flirtatious brat, considering how bad he was at containing his anger, but I knew he was a skilled agent. I also knew there was only a slight likelihood that Lord Oikawa would bring his son and his butler, but I could hope.
We were in charge of 4 of the 5 Dukes in the kingdom, the Oikawa's, Sugawara's, Kuroo's, and Bokuto's. Someone else was charged to the 5th Duke manner, I didn't have contact with him.
