Happy finale day!
Hope sat outside at the dock still wearing the dress her dad gave Caroline, looking out into the lake watching the fireflies illuminate the dark starry night. Hope was waiting for Lizzie in the same exact spot where her feelings for her first began.
"I've been looking for you everywhere." Lizzie said appearing behind Hope, sitting down beside her
"Really? I thought I'd be pretty easy to find." Hope laughed turning to look at Lizzie
"I just figured you'd be in your room changing into something more comfortable." Lizzie replied looking Hope over, it's hard for her not to stare, she's beautiful
Hope smiled looking down at her dress and sighed, "I just wanted to wear it, a little while longer." Hope said turning to look out into the lake
"It's beautiful." Hope said admiring the view of the moon shining and stars twinkling and the fireflies flying around, lighting up the normally dark lake
"Yea, it is" Lizzie said still staring at Hope
A moment of silence passed, where the two of them sat and enjoyed each other's presence admiring the view
"You know.." Lizzie whispered slowly taking Hope's hand
"Wait, Lizzie.. before you say anything, there's something you should know." Hope said nervously
"There's more? I just learned I could die in a few short years and there's more?" Lizzie sighed frustrated
"I kissed Josie."
"What!?" Lizzie yelled, as she pulled her hand away from Hope's and stood up completely taken aback
"Lizzie please, just let me explain what happened." Hope pleaded quickly standing up as well
"First I learn that my own sister is going to kill me in six years and now I learn that you two kissed?" Lizzie asked as tears began to fill her eyes, feeling like she couldn't breath by how angry she was
"Lizzie, please believe me when I say that it didn't mean anything." Hope softly placed her hand on Lizzie's cheek, as her own eyes began to well with tears, at the fear of losing Lizzie
"What do you mean it didn't mean anything? I saw the way you two were looking at each other after Josie confessed she liked you." Lizzie replied as a tear rolled down her cheek, she was already emotional after what she just learned about the merge 15 minutes ago
"I was shocked, okay! Josie was the first girl I ever had a crush on, that's a big deal to me. So when I learned that she liked me too, during the same time I liked her.. It shocked me. And I was happy about it, because if I'm being honest I've always liked her and I probably always will but the difference between what I feel for her and what I feel for you is that, I'm in love with you Lizzie." Hope whispered
Lizzie slowly looked up at Hope and sighed softly sniffling back tears, "You know, I actually promised myself I wouldn't fall in love with you. But it was 1 am, and I was crying into your shoulder, and I didn't feel like I was Crazy Lizzie or a waste of space and I felt.. safe and protected." She leaned into Hope's hand still on her cheek, looking straight into her beautiful deep blue eyes smiling softly through the tears slowly rolling down
Hope finally let out the tears she had been trying so hard to hold in, "But somehow, it's always been you. You were the only one whoever really saw me." Lizzie slowly lifted her hand to wipe away a stray tear from Hope's damp cheek
Lizzie laughed, "It was you. Even when I didn't want it to be. Even when it broke my heart over and over again. It's you." Lizzie and Hope were only mere centimeters away, they could feel each other's minty breath fanning their soft pink lips.
"I love you, Hope Andrea Mikaelson." Lizzie whispered as her lips brushed over Hope's, so close too touching but it still felt like they were too far away.
Hope couldn't take it anymore and so she filled in the last bit of space between them and kissed her, and the entire world fell away. It was slow yet passionate, a kiss that voiced the feelings they couldn't put into words. Lizzie's hand rested below Hope's ear, her thumb caressing her cheek as their breaths mingled. Hope ran her fingers down Lizzie's spine, pulling her closer until there was no space left between them and she could feel the beating of Lizzie's heart against her chest. They kissed and their brains felt as if they had been lit on fire, the warmth spreading throughout their entire bodies. After that they were addicted, they couldn't bare to not be together. They could barely breathe when the other was around. This kiss was their salvation and their torment. It felt as if they lived for this moment and they would die with this memory embedded in their minds. They were the half that made each other whole. There was no doubt in their minds that they were made for each other.
Hope slowly pulled away biting her lip trying and failing to hide her beaming bright smile looking into Lizzie's eyes, "I love you too, Elizabeth Jenna Saltzman." Lizzie laughed through her tears, before pulling her in one more time, but the kiss was short lived by Hope's phone letting out a loud notification,
"No.." Lizzie whined leaning in to kiss her again, Hope pecked Lizzie's lips quickly before picking her phone up beside her to read the text
"Crap.." Hope sighed
"What?" Lizzie asked
"I'll explain later but right now, I wanna kiss my girlfriend some more." Hope said as she pulled Lizzie in to kiss her again
Lizzie pulled away, "Woah.. who said anything about girlfriend? I thought we were just friends." Hope looked up at Lizzie unamused
Lizzie leaned in to kiss Hope again, "Kidding, obviously"
"You better be." Hope mumbled against Lizzie's lips
