Chpt 20 - The Earth King

Everyone quickly jumped onto Appa and flew away from the cliff side before the Dai Li could regain their composure. It felt nice to finally be in the air again, the cool winds blew through Y/n's clothes and brushed them backwards. The winds caused something against Y/n's chest to tingle from the cold, it almost felt metallic. In her confusion, Y/n put her hand to her chest to feel what was so cold against it, that's when she realized; her spirit water. Y/n's stomach sank as she pulled the small vile out from inside her clothing, with everything going on she had completely forgotten about this borderline magical liquid around her chest. What if it could have saved Jet?

Y/n lost another patient, all because of her own stupidity. Some healer she was.

The group landed on a small island in the center of the lake to sort out what they were going to do and where they were going to go next. In all honesty, Y/n was struggling to pay attention, it was hard enough for her to grapple with the loss of Yue and how helpless both she and Y/n were in the moment, but this time Y/n could have done something, and she forgot. Y/n was supposed to be one of the best healers, but the best don't forget. The best don't mess up.

"Look," Sokka's voice woke Y/n from her pity party, "We escaped from the Dai Li, we got Appa back, I'm telling you, we should go to the Earth King now and tell him our plan. We're on a roll."

Yeah because failing to help someone is totally being on a roll

"One good hour after weeks of trouble isn't much of a roll." Katara argued.

"We can build on it." Sokka responded, "If we want to invade the Fire Nation when the eclipse happens, we need the Earth King's support."

"What makes you think we'll get it?" Toph asked from her spot on the ground, "I don't know if you've noticed, but things don't usually go that smoothly for our little gang."

"I know but i've got a good feeling about this." Sokka smiled, "What about you Y/n?"

Y/n looked up from the grass she was picking at, "We have to try." She decided, "If something goes wrong we can escape on Appa."

"Long Feng is in control of the city." Katara said angrily, "His conspiracy with the Dai Li is too powerful. I think we should just keep flying and leave this horrible place behind us."

"I'm with sweetness." Toph grumbled, "I've seen enough of Ba Sing Se. And I cant even see!"

"But now that we have Appa back there's nothing stopping us from telling the Earth King the truth about the conspiracy and the war." Aang jumped down from Appa's back.

"See Aang's with us!" Sokka threw an arm around both Y/n and Aang, "It's the whole reason we came here in the first place, we have to try."

"Well I guess if the Earth King knew the truth, things could change."

"I don't trust this new positive Sokka." Toph speculated, standing up, "Long Feng brainwashed you didn't he?!"

Y/n ignored the bickering between the others and turned out to the lake, spotting three boats in the distance, "Guys!"

Sokka ran to the edge of the cliff, stopping next to Y/n, "That's probably the Dai Li searching for us!"

The group clambered onto Appa and made way to the palace, in all honesty Y/n was excited to take out her anger on hundreds of unsuspecting palace guards. They wouldn't know what hit them.

"Can we please buy a new saddle?" Toph shouted, "Riding bareback is terrifying!"

"There it is," Sokka pointed at a large green space filled with lush plants and a large palace, surrounded by a thick terracotta wall, "that whole this is the palace. The Earth Kings chamber should be in the center."
