The nightlight still shone brightly outside the building. It was 20 storeys luxury apartment that stood in the South region of Ace Island. One particular window led to a man's room. The room was dark as the heavy curtain covered it from the rest of the world. Inside the space, a figure of a man lay on his stomach and covered by a duvet. He was a freeman on the bed, never comfortable with clothes on when sleeping.

It had been weeks since he got to sleep in his own bedroom. He usually wide awake at this hour but just for today, he felt like he deserved it after all the troubles he went through. The atmosphere in the living room, however, was filled with noises of adults preparing to go to work.

"Is he not up yet?"

"Don't need to bother him. He's taking a rest for today."

The old man, Dominic was tying his tie neatly. It was true when they said, wine tastes better with age. He already hit 50's but looked much more majestic than his youthful self. His short hair already filled with gray hair, replacing his old flaming orange hair. Today, his wrinkles were more visible than ever. The old man grumbled internally, he missed his wife so much. It had been almost a month since they met as he had to come to the island to help his youngest son to take care of the trouble. He had to finish with the trail of his former employees. They lost millions because of the one they once trusted. It was getting annoying now.

A young woman sitting in front of him still looking at his younger brother's room. Her face might look fierce but deep inside, she was worried about her brother. He had punished himself too much. If she didn't ask him to take a break, he sure would pass out on his desk.

"You don't need to worry about him. He's not going to die. That guy is still young. You should worried more about dad."

"Are you saying that I'm going to die soon."

"Everyone's going to die anyway but you had a better chance than any of us in the room."

Dominic didn't spare his oldest son any face and hit his head with a fist. The room got noisier as the two started their quarrel and tugged each other's shirts. 'How did things turn into this?', she thought. Having her patience running thin, she slammed the table, spilled some coffee and yelled at the two men.

"Stop!! Get your shoes and get out! NOW!!"

The two men, older than the woman shrank immediately and nodded obediently. Ririca Blanc Jacker always had the temper of her mother; fiery and cold. Her platinum hair glinted as she stared at the two fiercely causing them to act obediently.

"I'm the older brother here. Why am l cowering in front of her?"

"Why don't you say that to her face instead of whispering to me, Zhongli."

Ririca glanced back to Alabaster's door room before moving out of the room with her father and brother.

The sun finally reached its peak when Alabaster woke up. He felt tired, his body felt sore, so he stayed lazy on the bed. Then, his phone sent a notification to tell him someone sent a text. His body felt the weight of the gravity as he slowly moved to his phone and reached it. It was a voice message from April but his eyes were too lazy to read the name and his finger pressed the notification.

"Al, you didn't tell me you're absent today. Did something happen to you? Jessie said she didn't receive any notice as well. Are you okay?"

It felt like a cold water had been splashed to his face as his mind registered her voice. 'April?'. He immediately texted back with 'I okay. Just getting some rest today'. Jessie and Jarome should have received his notice yesterday night but why did Jessie say nothing? He wasn't sure what had happened but hearing her voice right after he woke up was.... Kinda nice. He felt the comfort.
