June was trying to piece all the things that man said. He looked at both men. He said something... Something April had told him years ago. She never said any names. He knew she was scared of them. But the way that man spoke as if Onyx had something to do with it.
"Everyone makes mistakes. Do you think I don't know? Why do you think I'm here?"
He had enough. Alabaster really wanted to give this guy a punch or two but he didn't want April to hear or see him like that. So, he pulled her up and carried her weak body. Her head rested on his shoulder while wrapping his hand around her back and placed his other hand under her legs. Onyx didn't take that nicely. But before he could move, a hand gripped his shoulder.
"Mr. Onyx, right? You need to come with us for the investigation."
"What investigation?! Get out of my way!"
The officer tried his best to hold and restraint him but Onyx slipped from his hand. However, the pair already left the scene. He called his team to follow them while the officer started to threat him with legal action. Alabaster and April weren't the only one who left the hospital, June decided to tag along.
The ride home was quiet. April already calmed down and slept in his embrace as he massaged her back gently. June sat beside the duo and thought hard about the scene earlier. His head filled with various emotions. He trusted Onyx. When his sister found out that he was dating him, she didn't agree with him. She even left the house because of that. She never said any name...
"Did she not tell you anything?"
June didn't turn his head. She did tell him but not everything. She was still haunted with those nightmares. So, why did he date him? For what? To taunt her again? What did he want? June had a drop of tear fell from his face. 'Did he trick me?'
The car arrived at Alabaster's villa. A team of medical squad already prepared inside the house to take care of April, beside his family members. He came out of the guest room after placing her inside to greet his family, waiting in the living room. June stood quietly in front of the guest room, unsure how to say anything. The atmosphere was full of tension. There were concerns, questions, agitations and answers needed for each of them.
After he told them about a brief summary of the incident, his family didn't take it well. Their competitor tried to 'kidnap' their staff. And that was the purpose of his people going near the company. Onyx had been targeting their staff. June got more pallid as he heard more, Onyx had been lurking around April while he was being careless. When she told him to not disclose her apartment address, he just realized she was aware of his advance. It was a warning.
"So, what do you want to do with her? Onyx will be coming back for her."
The question was asked by Zhongli. The guy had his business look, cold and heartless. Ririca sneered at her brother and elbowed him, causing the latter to hiss in pain.
"That's why nobody likes you! Do you have to think more if your lover in danger?"
The word 'lover' stuck in Alabaster's head. He had never been able to get around the word 'lover' but for April, he wasn't sure if she liked it or not. He scratched the nape, unsure how to react with the remark. Jiu looked at her husband, giving her the knowing look. She knew he liked the girl but he still hadn't realized his own feelings.
"What do you think you should do, Al? Do you want to keep her here?"
Sending her outside for Onyx to ravage over her wasn't an option. His hand clenched into a fist as he rested them on his lap. A fire lit in his eyes. He would never let him lay a finger on her anymore. He knew his answer.
