Alabaster finally got the news update from April's group. He was away from the country for a business trip and would be back in two days. Even though there were crisis back at home called Onyx, the man had been silent since April emailed him. So, he only sent his best group to guard her. Things should be fine. After he got back, April would email Onyx again about their meeting. They would go together to meet him. If possible, he didn't want to cause chaos and end their whatever relationship peacefully.
He walked out of the hotel to go meet with his subordinates and noticed bougainvillea flowers on the sideways of the entrance. He remembered it was her favourite flower. His hand touched the petals softly. 'Maybe I should send flowers ... A special variant from Europe'. Sometimes, he couldn't help but to think of her. She was someone he wanted to be happy with. Someone that was special to him.
April disagreed with the job offer he gave her that day. Her reason, she didn't feel she deserved it. Maybe it was for the best, he thought. If she moved here, they wouldn't be able to see each other everyday. Somehow, he felt relieved when she gave that reply but still a bit conflicted because of their current situation. Anyway, he called Jarome to prepare the flowers for April.
Jarome got more used to his boss now. Sometimes, the man would daze in the middle of the meeting and work. Sometimes, he randomly asked him or Jenat to check on April. Sometimes, he texted his phone and smiled when he got her reply. The two seemed to be in a good relationship now. For the first few weeks after April's kidnapping, his boss had been restless and lost his focus on the job. He had been reckless and ordered a preparation for an attack against Holmesfield's company. Jarome was worried about it but he was grateful that their madam rejected the idea. Jenat was right. He only needed time to calm down and soon, he would be back to normal.
Jessie seemed to be in cloud nine, nowadays. Jarome wasn't sure what happened but he didn't mind it. As long as she did her work. She didn't join the trip as she stayed in the company to look over their madam. That woman should be a news reporter, he thought. Whenever they were alone, she would tell him all sorts of stories and Jarome was her listener. He didn't talk much and let her have her fun.
The two had known each other since kindergarten and best friends ever since. Their friendship had gotten through a rollercoaster. After graduation, they had little contact with each other as a working adult. It was a huge surprise when they actually met each other again in the company. Jarome worked with Alabaster first and tutored Jessie as a supervisor.
Sometimes, the pair hooked up with each other when the night felt too lonely but it was nothing serious. They both knew they weren't ready for any serious relationship with each other. Work was stressful enough for them to deal with, to add a relationship into the equation would be stupid. They felt being a lover would ruin the friendship they had.
Jarome just finished ordering a bouquet of rare bougainvillea when Jessie texted him. It was annoying when he received private text during work but he didn't mind it now since the time difference between their places was night and day. It would be hard to find the right time to talk like this, so he let it go as long as she didn't text too much. He opened her contact in the messenger app and a picture of hers displayed openly. Jarome cringed at it.
"Are you 18?"
"I need some of D daddy tonight <3"
"Shameless slut. Just get yourself a hooker."
":( Fucking bitch!"
"Fuck you!!"
Nonetheless, he sent her a picture of his that was saved in his phone. He wanted to delete it but kept on forgetting about it. Jessie replied fast.
