34 - No matter what happens, I'll always be honest with you

EMILYS POV
The next day everything was sorted. Daniel came to pick me up, I was worried about what he would say to me. He walked through the door looking very anxious. He walked over to me and embraced me in a hug, "I'm so sorry Emily." He whispered into my hair. I just nodded.

I was sorry too, his baby sister was going to jail and it was my fault. Daniel explained everything to me. She wasn't getting a long sentence seeing as the previous crimes Victoria had committed and the fact that she did it in self-defence were enough to sway the judge. Hopefully she would be out in under three years.

Daniel explained that Nolan was picking up Laura and bringing her home. We walked outside and I expected the press to bombard us but there was hardly a person in sight. I shrugged it off and got into the car. Daniel was acting very shifty the way home and we went the long way instead of the normal way home. I was too exhausted to question him and when we got home I went straight upstairs and fell into the comfort of my bed. I slept for hours.

When I woke up, I went into the nursery and picked up Laura and kissed her head gently. When I came downstairs Nolan and Daniel were talking in hushed voices, Nolan looked like he was on the verge of tears. Daniel almost jumped when he saw me, "What's going on guys?" I asked in a serious tone.

"Maybe you should sit down Em." Daniel said with a shaky voice. I obeyed and sat on the couch, Nolan took Laura from me and walked into the kitchen. "What is it?" I asked worriedly. Daniel sat next to me and took my hands, "I once promised you that no matter what, I would always be honest with you. I thought it's better you hearing this from me than from someone else. When your dad left after speaking to you he was in an accident. He didn't make it Emily..." The words cut me like a knife.

DANIELS POV
I saw the blood drain from her face, "He what? No, no! It's not true. He can't.. No" she didn't do anything at first. Then the tears crept down her face, "I lost him again?" I tried to pull her into a hug but she pushed me away and ran upstairs and into the bathroom. I followed her up and knocked softly on the door, "Emily.. Please let me in" she unlocked the door and I walked in and sat on the floor with her. I pulled her close to me and she didn't try to pull away.

"He was my dad again. I got him back" she cried and I stroked her hair, "I know baby, I know" I kissed the top of her head and she fell asleep with her head on my shoulder. I carried her to the bed and put her down gently. Nolan came up with Laura who was also asleep, "I've never seen her like this Nolan. I don't know what to do." I looked at him hoping he would have an answer.
"Usually she would push through it because she's Emily Thorne, she can get through anything but while you were gone, she formed a really strong relationship with her dad again. I don't know if there's anything that would change that... Unless" he pondered.
"Unless what? I hate seeing her like this and it'll only get worse." I pleaded, I knew it would get worse.
"You aren't going to like it," I just nodded for him to tell me, "Find Aiden Mathis and bring him here."
"What has Mathis got to do with this?!" I almost yelled at him and Emily stirred but went back to sleep.

We walked outside and Nolan sighed, "I don't know how much Emily told you but she saved Aiden when she was on her mission for revenge and she helped him on his mission. Whenever something happened that we thought would ruin Emily like Amandas death, Aiden would help her stay on track. I know you don't like the guy but it might be the only way." I shook my head, "I'm not involving him. I hate him more than I could explain. Even more now"

Nolan looked at me, "Please don't get mad at Emily about Aiden, she doesn't need it now." I nodded, "I won't but I'm not calling him here." I would find another way.
