"How did it go?" Logan asked.
"Judges seemed to like my costume," Virgil answered, sitting down at the table. "They were pretty impressed when they found out it was homemade."
"Well, they loved mine," Roman said smugly. "They even asked me to sing Space Oddity. Janus and Virgil didn't get asked to sing."
"No, actually, I did," Janus corrected. "I just can't sing and do the accent at the same time."
"I'm actually surprised that the judges have all seen Hazbin," Logan commented, taking a bite of the jelly doughnut he'd gotten. "It's fairly obscure."
"They gotta know their stuff if they want to judge," Remus explained, stabbing his Caesar salad for the fifteenth time. "Remember eighth grade? I went as Leo Valdez, because that was before me and Roman got our growth spurts, and---"
"And you got fourth place!" Patton said, clapping his hands. "I remember that!"
"Wait, there was a time when you were scrawny enough to be Leo?" Virgil exclaimed. "You guys look like footballers!"
Janus sighed wistfully. "It was that blissful time before the middle of eighth grade, when Remus was only a few inches taller than me and only a little bit buff. Not that I don't enjoy all the bear hugs I get nowadays, though."
"You love my body, shut up," Remus said, leaning in to kiss him on the cheek.
"Darling, as much as I love your kisses, I'm wearing a lot of makeup at the moment and I don't want to smudge it," Janus chided, putting a finger over his lips.
He deflated. "Can we still dance later?"
"Of course we can. I never said that was off the table."
"How come you guys didn't do a couple costume?" Virgil asked. "'Cause, no offense, but Remus is the most... Angel-like guy I've ever met."
"We ship Husk with Angel," Remus answered, twirling his fork. "Don't get me wrong, RadioDust would be awesome, but Alastor's canonically aroace, so..."
"That, and Remus has been wanting to be Beetlejuice ever since he first listened to the soundtrack," Janus added.
"Ah." Virgil took a bite of pizza. "You guys planning on doing a couple costume in the future?"
"Oh, absolutely. We've been discussing ideas for next year, and I rather like the idea of us going as Gomez and Morticia. I'd be Morticia, of course."
"You would look amazing in her dress," Remus agreed.
Patton let out a wild screech and covered his mouth.
Logan frowned. "The moment wasn't that adorable, Patton. You don't need to---"
"It's not that!" he whispered, shaking with excitement. "Look!"
Virgil followed his outstretched finger to Dr. Picani, who was dressed in an Aziraphale cosplay that was actually really good. "So the headmaster's into Good Omens, huh? That's cool."
Roman gasped. "That's only part of it! Look at Remy!"
"Yeah, Remy's in a Crowley cosplay. We all saw---"
Once it finally hit him, a grin spread across Virgil's face.
"Remile confirmed!" Patton squealed, hopping up and down. "They actually did it! I can't believe they actually did it!"
"I know!" Roman cheered. "It's just perfect! My ship has set sail!"
"Wait, you didn't know that they were already dating?" Janus said, looking confused. "It's incredibly obvious. Hell, they kiss each other all the time."
