Did You Miss Me?

I don't feel anything. I'm just floating in nothingness. It's not cold or hot, just nothing. My eyes open to see everything was bright white. I somehow found the ground underneath me. My feet were bare as they try to feel what I was standing on. A white dress trailed behind me as it clung to my body. I also somehow had my mask on, I hadn't worn it in so long.

It was peaceful.

With each step I take, white roses grow in a trail behind me. A soft breeze graced my skin as white rose petals danced in the wind. I just continued walking, not really caring where I would end up.

I felt light. No thoughts occupied my mind. My heart wasn't overflowing like it usually did.

But I did notice that my wrists were chained. It was the only thing that was weighing me down. The chains went on forever in front of me, never ending.

I wonder if I can make it to the end?

The roses seemed to grow faster as many of them spread all around me. My feet soon dragged through them as loose petals fell behind me.

I stopped.
He was there.
I see ahead of me, the man who destroyed my life.

He was in an all white suit that matched my dress, he seemed to look younger. The same age he was when he found me in that alleyway.

I wonder why I'm not scared.

No pain. No anger. No hurting or confusion.

He walks towards me, a soft smile on his face. The chains get heavier with each step he takes. Soon he's right in front of me, the chains feel like they are going to snap my wrists in half. It seemed that my voice wasn't working, opening my mouth to only hear silent words.

He gently placed his hands on the chains that held me down. He looked at with a teary smile.

"I'm sorry."

His words seemed to echo in my ears. The chains suddenly broke, I felt like I was walking on clouds. A gust of wind blew in my direction, all the white petals in the air.

I start to see as red started to stain his white clothes. I see that he seems to be fading before me, a ghost of a smile on his lips. I reach out to grab him, but I only held on to the white fog he left behind. I continue to stare at the spot in front of me, feeling something that felt so foreign.

I felt free.

I see the broken chains on the floor. They slowly turned to dust as it got lost in the wind.

A laugh of relief escaped my mouth. I sigh with a small smile as I look up.

A weight has been lifted of my shoulders. My past seemed to finally leave me alone. The nightmares stayed in the dark.  I saw life in a new light.

I guess the universe has something against me. Maybe I'm not allowed to be happy. I feel that I'm being teased and taunted. Anything good in my life never seems to last.

The temperature seemed to drop as I could see my breath. Goosebumps littered my skin as I hear footsteps behind me. I turn to see a young man. Messy black hair with porcelain skin. He wore a black suit that had a white rose in the coat pocket on his chest. The roses around him dripped in red as the white slowly disappeared. What stuck out the most was a black dog mask that covered his entire face. I couldn't even see his eyes through it.

His presence felt oddly familiar, but at the same time unknown. He was tall and lanky, his slim fingers slipped into his pockets.

We just stood there facing each other, the roses at my feet white while the ones by his were painted red.
