Prison

"Hey mum," Matt said hugging his mum. "It's so good to see you."
"I've missed you. I haven't seen you in ages."
"It has been a while."
"Where's Gabby?"
"She's at home sleeping. We were in shift until 7 this morning."
"How is she?"
"She's good. Really good."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out two things.
"When do you get out of here again?"
"6 months."
"Here," he handed her the wedding invitation.
"Matt, you're getting married?"
"Yeah. Yeah we only set a date a few months back. I told you I was planning on proposing the last time I was here."
"Yeah, I didn't expect this all to happen so quickly."
"It feels right to us."
"What's that?" She asked pointing to the other photo in his hand.
He smiled. "It's...here." He handed it to her and she looked at it.
"What...."
"Gabby's Pregnant, due in May," he smiled.
"Matt this is wonderful. I'm so happy for you," she smiled standing up and hugging him.
"Thanks mum, it really means a lot."
"Wow, a baby. My boy is going to be a father," she said sitting back down. "Has she got a baby bump?"
"Yeah she does. Actually I think I have a photo," he pulled out his phone and passed it over to her. "That was just the other day."
"She's glowing Matt."
He chuckled slightly, "I know. She doesn't see it though."
"You should bring her."
"I will once she finishes work, she's been exhausted being on shift."
"I can't wait. This is wonderful." She stopped and paused. "How's Christie? And Violet?"
"They're good. Christies divorce finally went through and Violet is excited about getting a cousin."
"I haven't seen them in years. Do you two see each other?"
"Yeah all the time. We didn't really at the start but we see each other heaps now."
"That's good to hear Matt. I'm glad you two have sorted it out."
His phone beeped and he looked at it.
"Look Mum, I've gotta go. I'll come back soon, bring Gabby with me."
"Thanks for coming Matt. You've made my day. Oh here," he held out the ultrasound.
"No you keep it, I've got another at home."
"Merry Christmas," she smiled hugging him.
"You too mum, you too."
