"Hey Gabby what's up?" Christie said answering her phone.
"I need you help," she whined in pain.
"What's wrong?"
"My water broke, and Matts on shift, and he's not answering my calls."
"Okay Gabby just breathe. I'm on my way okay?"
"Mhm," she groaned.
"When did you start getting pain?" She asked making a right turn to head to Gabbys.
"Last night. I went to the fire house and slept there and thought they were fake. When I got home this morning they got worse and my water broke half an hour ago."
"How far apart are the contractions?"
"It's constant, and gets worse for a little every couple minutes."
"Okay Gabby are you listening?"
"Yeah," she whined.
"If you're feeling constant pain it means the baby's in distress. You need to calm down and breathe in and out slowly." Christie started mimicking a pattern for her before Gabby lost it as the pain took over her again. "Gabby what are you doing now?"
"Sitting on the couch."
"Okay try getting up and walking around a bit. It might help lessen the pain and help the baby's heart rate to go down."
"Where are you?" She whimpered.
"I'm pulling into the street now."
"Can you call Matt, I want Matt."
"Yeah I'll call him okay? Just relax."

Christie pulled up at the house just as Matt did in the truck. He got out and jogged up the steps and into the house as Christie got out behind him. Gabby was standing in the living room holding herself up on the couch.
"Matt," she said reaching for him.
"It's okay baby, it's going to be okay," he said running over and helping her stand upright. "Shays coming, we can get you in the ambulance and go to the hospital okay."
"Mhm," she mumbled and whined as another pain hit.
"Gabby," Christie said jogging in and bending down on the couch in front of her.
She didn't say anything but groaned in pain looking Christie in the eye for help.
"Okay, did you go to any pregnancy classes?" She asked.
"No," Gabby breathed.
"They always clashed with our shifts."
"Okay. I want you to follow me. In and out. In and out. In and out. In and out." Christie breathed. "Can I see if I can feel the baby's position?" Gabby nodded and Christie put her hands on her stomach pressing gently. She looked at Matt and shook her head. "How far away is the ambulance? The baby's in the wrong position."
Shay came running in with a medical bag.
"Shay let's go," Matt said quickly picking up Gabby. She put her head in his neck as he carried her out to the ambulance and sat her on the gurney. They strapped her up and loaded the gurney in. Shay got in the front and Emma got in the back with Casey.
Gabby started groaning which suddenly became an agonized scream.
"What is it baby?" Matt asked taking her hand. "Talk to me."
"The baby," she breathed quickly. "I can feel it, it's coming now. I have to push," she said tearing up and looking into his eyes.
"She's not going to make it to the hospital Shay. Im delivering in the ambo." Emma called.
"No don't touch me. Where's Christie?" Gabby asked. "I want Christie."
Matt looked up out the back doors of the ambulance where Christie was about to get into her car.
"Chris!" He called making her look up. "Want to deliver the baby?"
