"Your blood sugar is at a normal level, so you're less than likely to end up with gestational diabetes, but your blood count has dropped even more. At this stage it's so low we have to report that you're anemic," the doctor said. Gabby nodded. "You will need to take medication if it gets any worse but at the moment it's just below where we would expect it to be. Now let's take a look at the baby."
Gabby lifted her top up and the doctor started the ultrasound.
"No Matt today?"
"He's on shift. I'll probably go there after," she smiled.
"How long ago since you finished working?"
"A week and half."
"Planning on doing anything while you wait for the baby?" The doctor was measuring the baby as she spoke.
"Watching my niece for a week. My sister-in-law is going interstate. And that's about it. Everything for the baby is ready."
"Good to hear. Some people come here on their last ultrasound and still don't have everything." She stopped and focused on the ultrasound. "There's the head."
"Wow, she's gotten big?"
"You don't know the gender do you?"
"No, just hoping for a girl," she smiled.
"Would you like to find out."
"No. We want to keep it as a suprise."
The doctor printed off some more pictures for her and then wiped away the gel.
"I just want to listen to the heartbeat again," the doctor said. "It's going a little fast."
"Is that bad?"
"I'm only concerned because of the distress the baby went through a few weeks ago."
"So what does it mean if it's fast?"
"Let's just look first okay?"
She hooked her up to a heart monitor and turned on the machine, adjusted the band and then listened.
"Okay, it's fast." Gabbys own heart rate picked up increasing the babys. "See that just there? Your heart rate picked up and so did the baby's. You need to stay calm."
"What does this mean for the baby."
"Nothing currently. There is just a higher chance of chance of the baby going into distress when you go into a labor."
"Ok."
"Everything else looks good, I wouldn't be worried if I was you, it'll just make it worse." Gabby nodded again and the doctor disconnected the heart monitor letting Gabby sit up. "I'll see you next ultrasound."
"Thank you."

Gabby grabbed her bag and shoved the pictures into it before walking out and making her way to the firehouse. As she parked the car and got out the truck 81 and the ambulance pulled out on a call. She locked the car and walked in the house.
"Hey Gabby. How's it going?" Kelly asked.
"Good thanks."
"Matt just went out on a call if you're looking for him."
"Yeah they pulled out as I pulled up. I'll be inside. Is there anything to eat?"
"I think Mills has soup on the stove."
"Ta," she smiled walking in. She served herself a bowl of soup and then went down and ate in Matts office.

Meanwhile the trucks were busy putting out the fire. With back up there, the fire was smoldering in a few minutes. It was just a small dumpster fire, but Shay and Thomas were already on the way to the hospital with a burns victim. Once they were satisfied the fire was doused and not going to relight they headed back to the house. As they pulled up Gabby walked out of the door.
"Hi beautiful," Matt smiled jumping out of the truck.
"Hi, I walk in and you're leaving. You get back and I'm leaving."
"Where are you going?"
"I have to go get lunch with Christie. Sorry," she kissed her cheek.
"How was you're appointment?"
"Yeah it was fine, I'll talk to you at home. Love you."
"Love you too. See you later."
A/N: sorry a bit boring
