"Hey you two," Shay smiled as Gabby and Violet walked into the common room.
"Hey guys. You all remember Violet?"
"Hi Violet. How's it going?" Cruz asked.
"Good thanks," she smiled.
"You know if you asked Cruz or Herrmann really nicely they might show you the truck, you can go sit in it if you want."
"Really?" Her eyes lit up.
"Come on, let's go," Cruz smiled standing up.
As the walked around Gabby turned back to Shay. "You know where Matt is?"
"I think in his office," she replied.
"Ta."
She made her way down the hall and to his office door.
"Hey beautiful. I didn't know you were coming," Matt smiled standing up and giving her a kiss.
"We were driving past and Violet wanted to stop by."
"Where is she?"
"Out at the trucks with Cruz."
"How you feeling?"
"I'm feeling it. It's tough, it's like she's run out of room to grow and now she's just restless and won't let me sleep," she said putting a hand on her stomach. "It doesn't help that Violet is wanting to do things nonstop."
"Two more days and Christies back. I'll be off shift tomorrow morning. And who said it was a girl?"
"I did, and I can't wait."
He got up and lead Gabby out into the corridor. "I spoke to Chief this morning, I've got the first five shifts off after you have the baby."
"That's great. So really it gives us a week or two at home together."
"Yeah, I can take more time after that if I need to."
They walked out to the trucks to see Violet sitting behind the steering wheel. "Hey Violet."
"Hi Uncle Matt."
"Having fun up there?"
She nodded and then suddenly the alarms went off.'Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61. House fire'
"I'll let you go," Gabby smiled kissing his cheek.
"Mind if I take Violet on the call?" He asked suiting up.
"Go for it. I'll be here when you get back."Casey jumped into the front seat of the truck and pulled Violet onto his lap.
"Want to come?"
"Yeah!" She nodded.
"Here," he put his hard hat on her head as Cruz pulled out of the house. They drove down the street to the fire and pulled up. It wasn't too bad, the top level of the house was vented and smoking, the fire was nearly out.
"Casey and Herrmann search the bottom. Severide and Mills search the top," Boden called.
"Alright kiddo. I'm going to need that," Casey said taking his hat. "Stay here and don't touch anything okay?"
She nodded and Casey masked up before walking into the bottom floor of the house. The rooms were clear and he made his way out with Herrmann.
"Bottoms clear chief."
Severide and Mills came out with two women who went over to the ambo to be treated.
"Start the water Otis," Casey called. He grabbed a hose and braced himself for the pressure of the water to come through. They started putting out the fire that was left on the right side of the house. Once the fire was out, they folded the hoses back and Casey walked back over to Violet putting his hat back on her head.
"I want to be a firefighter when I grow up," she smiled.
