CHAPTER 28: Slip

"Are you cold?" he asked when he saw me hugging myself. 

I nodded shyly before turning my gaze on him. Hinubad niya ang bomber jacket niya at isinuot iyon sa akin. He feels warm. 

"You are fond of them now" I suddenly commented before playing with the zipper. 

"Yeah. They're helping me look young" he chuckled. 

"Hey, we're not that old....though " pag-tanggi ko.

I bit my lower lip before deviating my attention on the beach. We went outside the restaurant after eating. The ocean feels serene, so free from disturbance, we stared at it while staying inside the car. I am getting used to my county life now. 

Napatingin ako kay Ken at nakita ko siyang naka-titig sa akin. Napaiwas tuloy ako! Pakiramdam ko, mukha na akong queso de bola dahil doon. I couldn't help but to smile stupidly. 

"What about the annulment, Ken?" I asked in a brave manner but very hopeful inside. 

"That was my excuse" he revealed. 

Napatingin kaagad ako sa kanya pero nagulat ako nang bigla niyang hinawakan ang kamay ko. We both stared at it when we're intertwined. My eyes widened when I realized that we are still wearing both of our rings.

"Excuse?" tanong ko. 

"I was rampant when I saw you with another man. It was never my intention." napahilot siya sa sentido niya, looking embarrassed now. 

My lips parted. Si na naman Seth ba?! 

"So, nasabi mo lang talaga 'yon kasi nagse-selos ka?" I raised a brow when at him. 

"Yeah" napairap siya at matalim na tumitig sa harapan. 

Napangiti ako. Ang cute niya. Very Dylan. Hmp! 

Nilingon niya ako, matalim pa rin ang tingin. "But when I told you that I wanted an annulment, it broke my heart. You wanna know why?" 

"Why?" I chuckled. 

"Because you agreed. You fucking said yes!"

Napatigil ako at sandaling tumitig sa kanya. The smile I had on my face faded. He sounded hurt, like he was betrayed so many times. I was startled and deeply upset to hear this from him.
