The next morning, she and Olivia had met Hank for breakfast and she had said her goodbyes to the lieutenant before returning back to the hotel to gather her things.
"This all you brought, kid?" Hank asked, taking the two suitcases from her. "It's all I needed. Couldn't really take my furniture with me." She laughed. "No. No I guess you can't. Alright, you ready to check out?" She nodded and had gone to return her key card to the front desk. "We hope you enjoyed your stay, Ms. Lindsey." "Thank you, I did. Have a good one." She said, as she slipped the front desk woman a tip.
Hank was waiting out front as she exited the hotel, and got inside the warm car. The seat warmer kept her comfortable the drive through town. She had watched the familiar neighborhoods pass by in the window, nearly nodding off. "You tired kid?" Hank asked, as they pulled to a stop at the red light. "Mm. I'm always tired." She mumbled, stifling a yawn. "Well, I have to be at the district for the day after you get settled, so you can sleep as much as you want. I'll bring home something from town for dinner." She nodded. "Thank you, for taking me back so quickly. I really don't think I could do this without someone there." She said. "You know I'm here for anything. I'm sorry that things got so messed up for you Erin. I'm glad you came home to us." The rest of the car ride to her home, she wore a smile, thankful for family.
Once her bags were placed on the floor of her teenage bedroom, she began to unpack, and she pulled the bedding from her closet. Making the bed, she pulled on a set of her old academy sweats, and crawled beneath the sheets, drifting off to sleep.
