The next two days had been hectic to say the least. She was so grateful for Olivia to just drop everything to help her. She hadn't felt the presence of a mother figure since Camille and she certainly had not received that motherly affection from her birth mother, so it was the most surreal feeling.
The entire plane ride, they had talked about the units and Olivia eased Erin's nerves as they flew closer to Chicago. Once they landed, she had booked a car service for the day to bring herself and Erin around to the hotel, and once they were settled, it was time to head over to her old unit. When they reached the old oak doors of District 21, she was overcome with anxiety, turning to Olivia. She gave her a quick squeeze of the hand to reassure her. "You can do this." She said. With that, they both climbed the stairs leading to the desk Sargent.
Trudy was perched, filling in some paperwork, while the lobby was empty. "Hi there, Sargent Platt. We're here to see Sargent Voight." The familiarity of the captains voice, Trudys gaze drifted from the files, to the person in front of her. Her eyes widened when she realized, none other than Erin Lindsay was standing in front of her. "My god." She said, tearing up, and coming out from behind the desk to envelop the young detective in her arms. It was no secret that Erin had been Platt's favorite. Of course any family of Voight was. "Hi Sargent. It's nice to see you, too." She said into the Sargents shoulder, where her face was nearly squished. "What are you doing back? Did something happen?" She exchanged a look with Olivia, before moving back to Erin. "Nothing I can't handle. You think you could take us up?" She asked nudging her head toward the stairwell.
The climb up to the unit, Erin was wracked with a dozen emotions at seeing all those familiar faces once more. Once at the top, Trudy made their presence known. "Look what I found in our lobby." She said with a grin. Each head turned away from the board where Voight stood, analyzing their latest case. "Oh my god!" Kim yelled, launching herself basically across the room. "Well look at what the cat dragged in." Ruzek commented. Each member of the intelligence unit greeted her, with the exception of both Jay, and Voight. Even Hailey had been kind enough to say hello. But the look of anger and hurt that crossed Jay's face didn't go unnoticed. "Hi guys." She said quietly. Completely out of character for the Detective Lindsay they knew just months ago. "How the hell are you, Lindsay?" Atwater asked, giving her a quick hug. "I'm okay. Thanks Kev." Olivia followed her over to Voights office, where he had already taken a seat inside to wait for her, and Olivia closed the door behind Erin, leaving her to have some alone time to chat. She busied herself catching up with Hanks unit.
