After her little visit with the unit, Jay volunteered to drive her back to Voight's home, since their Sergeant was caught up in gathering information with Al. He grabbed his keys and Erin said goodbye to the rest of the Intelligence Unit. Kim enveloped her into one last hug. "I'll visit as soon as you can have people in your room. Let me know ASAP, okay?" Erin nodded, and she and Jay descended the stairs.

Trudy was at work on a crossword; her glasses perched on the edge of her nose. Erin approached, and waited. "Hey Sarg, you have a few minutes before we head out?" Trudy looked up and noticed her and Jay. She nodded, confusedly and allowed Erin to lead her over to the open office. She closed the door and Jay took a seat outside on the wooden bench to wait.
She gestured for the desk sergeant to take a seat, as she did herself. "What's going on, Erin?" "I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer, and I'm really here for treatment over at Med. I didn't want to say anything when I first came in..I didn't want to say anything at all, but it felt wrong. I know I can handle this myself and I didn't want to upset anyone, but-" Trudy put her hand up to stop Erin's chatter. This wasn't just any member of the 21st District. Trudy had known Erin for a long time, through Voight and the days where he had refused to give up on her as a young teen, who had blossomed into a tough, kick ass cop. She had basically watched Erin grow up, so the news wasn't taken lightly. In fact, the hardened desk sergeant shed some tears, standing and taking Erin into her arms. They stayed like that for a few minutes before she spoke. "Thank you. For telling me, I mean. We'll get you through this and I'm here for whatever you need." This motherly side of Trudy was never seen, even with how much she adored her - Erin had never seen this side. She hugged the older woman tighter, whispering a small 'thank you', that nearly went unheard. Pulling away, she returned to Jay and they exited the district, and made their way home in his car.

Jay pulled up to the old house, and she unclipped her seatbelt, turning to him. "Thank you for the ride home. I just have a lot to do before tomorrow, so I wanted to take a nap first. I'm just so exhausted." She rambled. "Hey, no sweat. You need any help with getting ready?" She patted the top of his hand on the wheel. "I'm okay. I'll see you soon though." She leaned over and pressed a kiss to his cheek, pulling back wide eyed, realizing what she had done. "Oh my god, I'm sorry I don't know why I did that." She knew she crossed a line. They hadn't been together in almost a year, she really had no right. He too, had a very 'deer in the headlights' look to him, yet it only lasted a moment before he returned the kiss - this time on the lips. "I-I should get inside. I'll text you." She scurried into the house, her stomach filled with butterflies. She hadn't had a kiss from him in so long, but it still felt so natural. But could she really let herself go there with him again, especially in her predicament?
