Later that day, as she picked at the lunch served, a knock on the door interrupted her. Voight had gone home for a shower and a change of clothes which left her alone with the only company of the bustle outside of her hospital room and the endless television shows to binge watch. Her eyes went from the tray in front of her, to the new visitors in the doorway. "Hi! I wasn't sure if you'd be okay with us coming, but I really wanted to make sure you were doing okay." Kim said, as she stood there with Kevin and Sergeant Platt. "How you holding up, Lindsay?" Kevin asked. "It's nice to see some friendly faces, thanks for coming." She said softly, beckoning them to come inside with the wave of her hand. She pushed the half eaten tray away, and sat up against the pillows. "I'm doing okay, first cycle finished late last night, so I don't have another until next Monday, which is a nice break in between. How are you all? Any big cases I'm missing out on?" She asked as they all found a seat to take. "I'm glad to hear it. You're not missing much honestly, same old 21." Platt said. "We miss you there though. Think you'll come back to us once all of this is sorted out?" Kim asked hopefully. In truth, Erin wasn't really sure what she was going to do, if that were even a possibility. "If the offer is there, I wouldn't exactly be opposed to coming back." "It is home, we'd love having you back." Was.She corrected mentally. "It would be great." "Then you let me handle all of that. If Chicago is where you want to be after this, I'll take care of it. I'm owed a few favors anyway." Erin arched an eyebrow in confusion but didn't dare ask. It was always better to never ask in these scenarios, she knew that from being raised under Voight's roof. "Thank you so much, Sarge. I appreciate it." Trudy placed her hand over Erin's gently. "You just focus on getting well, okay? The job will be kept warm for you in the meantime." Erin's heart swelled at the thought of being able to finally come back home.

A few more members of the 21 family had oven and gone as did the day. She was completely spent as she got ready for bed that evening, even brushing her teeth had been a task. As she made her way back to bed, Jay entered the room and Voight stood to give them some privacy. "I'll be back later, kid." He nodded at Jay, before closing the door behind him. "So I heard you had quite the busy day, Miss Congeniality." He said with a chuckle, earning him an eye roll as she pulled the covers around herself. "Funny. You're cute when you're jealous, Halstead." She teased back. He raised his hand to his chest in a hurt gesture. "Oh how you wound me, Lindsay." He mocked. She shook her head with a grin plastered on her face, combined with her now heavy lids. "You gonna join me for a while?" She asked, scooting over to make room. He slid in next to her with ease, and she snaked into his side to claim the new body heat. "I'm starting to think you just want me for the human heater." "Don't be silly, you're also pretty to look at." She mumbled with sarcasm, closing her eyes. He smiled down at her as she drifted, and he scrolled through his phone as she slept next to him. Regardless of the current predicament, he greatly missed having her next to him in their once shared bed - it was almost too good to be true that she was back and he would do anything to ensure that they never had to be apart again.
