She entered her place, closing the door to lean against it and shut her eyes for a moment. How did a little pain and loss of appetite become such a big issue? How had she not caught on sooner? She told herself she would not cry. She hated feeling weak, and that's exactly what crying felt like, and it wasn't like it was going to fix anything. She pushed off the door, kicking off her boots, and hanging up her coat, she made her way to the couch with the folder still in a firm grip. Once it was laid out in front of her, she looked from treatment to treatment. Until Chicago Med reached her line of sight. Could she really go home for this? It wasn't like she was a dying animal and needed to run away to do it, she could beat this. She lowered her head into her hands and tried to massage the beginning stage of a stress headache away. How the hell had her life taken so many nose dives. Six months ago she was back in Chicago, living her life as normal as possible. Along came the whole Bunny situation, her slight interrogation break down, and the thing with Jay. Jay. His name still caused a dull ache in her chest. She was used to life not really going according to any plans per say, but nothing could have prepared her for any of these turn of events.

She picked up her phone and hovered over her recent calls. Olivia and her unit were the closest thing to family she had here, but gazing at the time in the corner of her phone, she hoped that it wasn't an inconvenience to the captain to be taking her call at work.
Three rings before Olivia's soothing voice on her was coming through the phone. "Hey Liv, is this a bad time?" "No, never a bad time. How are you?" Erin's hesitation had the older detective a little worried. "My results are back. It's bad." She whispered. "I'll be there in a few minutes." "I can't ask you to just leave work." "You're not, I'm going to do it anyway. The perks of being the boss here, and you sound like you could use someone to talk to right now.. I'll be there soon." Erin clasped a hand over her mouth to stop the sob that was so desperate to escape and ended the call. "Stop crying. You're fine." She whispered to herself. Feeling overwhelmed, she made sure the door was unlocked for Olivia to let herself in and wrapped herself up in the throw as she had the night before, curling up into the corner of the sofa, and staring out the window of her apartment.
