"This looks absolutely delicious, Mrs Alexander." I smile gratefully at Trent's mum as she takes her own seat opposite her husband.
"Oh thank you, Natalie, and please call me Dianne, Mrs Alexander is far too formal for my liking."
"So, I do believe that you and Trent are getting married, do you know when this will be?" Michael kicks off a conversation with me and I pop a roast potato into my mouth.
I look at Trent to see if he had an answer and he just shakes his head. "Well, I think that we are gonna wait for everything to settle down and after our baby has been born." I answer and place a hand on my stomach.
"Ah yes, Tyler did show us the picture on Trent's Instagram of the fact that you are expecting. Dianne screamed very loudly."
"Who can blame me though, I honestly cannot wait to have grandchildren. Have you thought of any names yet?" She defends herself and tucks into her own food.
"No not really, to be honest we haven't really talked much about the baby. Times have been pretty stressful with the crash that Nat had and my training and games have been getting ahead of me. I suppose we just haven't thought much about the baby." Trent answers this time and I take a sip of the glass of orange juice that Trent got me instead of alcohol.
"Oh, I heard about the crash you snapped your leg and had to have your collarbone replaced with a metal rod." Marcel pipes up and I nod.
"Yeah."
"Your job is well cool, driving for a living." He compliments and I smile softly in thanks.
"It's overrated, in my opinion anyway. But when you win leagues or races you can make a killing. It can obviously go wrong sometimes, but we move." I shrug my shoulders and continue eating.
The meal goes by pretty quickly and Trent's family are the loveliest people and I understand why Trent loves them so much.
I wish I could say the same about my parents though. Me and my mum fell out when I was sixteen and decided to leave school after completing my GSCEs to take up my driving, she were annoyed with my decision and yelled at me for weeks on end afterwards as the only qualifications I got was maths, science, and English. Which isn't bad considering the fact that most in my year weren't exactly the brainiest. To be honest, I could have easily passed all my GCSEs but I got so enhanced in my driving that I didn't put any effort in and when I got my results I just didn't see the point of continuing my school work and dropped out to pursue my dream of a rally car racer.
When I came home from that day I told my parents my views and my mum flipped, dad were annoyed at first but he eventually came round. To be honest, mum always wanted me to be a mini her but it has never been my thing, ever since I was something like eight I had an ambition to race cars for a living, she just didn't like that idea.
I haven't spoken to my mum since I left that summer to live with Jordan here in Liverpool where I am now living a dream. Engaged to the man of my dreams and have my job that I have wanted to do since I were a little girl. Life is good at the moment and I wouldn't change a single thing.
All of us sit upon the two sofas watching the Christmas film Elf together and I cuddle up to Trent. This feels like a proper family and I am glad that I am part of it. They all care for each other and Michael and Dianne care about all three of their sons very much and have clearly supported their dreams a lot more than my own parents did.
We all laugh with each other at the film and within no time it's nine o'clock and I am practically ready for bed, this pregnancy is really tiring me out and if I am like this at three or so months then what am I gonna be later on.
Trent helps me put on my coat and he hands me his hat for me to put on. "It's gonna be absolutely freezing out there so put this on, babes."
I slip it onto my head over my blond hair. "We would give you two a lift home, but we have all had a drink and even though it was only a little one you can never be too careful." Dianne apologises and I nod my head.
"Yeah, it's fine, even if you had offered I ain't too sure that I would have accepted. You can never tell with alcohol, I have seen it where someone has consumed a small amount of alcohol and then driven on the track and almost took out a couple of people as their reaction time wasn't up to their standards." I explain slipping my trainers onto my feet.
"Anyway, please pop over and see us anytime, both of you." She wraps her arms around me first and I return the farewell hug. Trent hugs all of his family goodbye and I fist bump Tyler and Marcel and we all bid our goodbyes.
"We'll see you soon, mum, I promise. Love you all." Trent helps me through the front door and we head out into the Christmas night.
The moon is now high in the sky and the stars twinkle magically through the thin wisps of cloud that are flowing up high across the moon. "Your family are the nicest people in the world." I interlock my cold fingers the his and he looks down at me with a warm smile.
"Yeah, they're all pretty good people in my opinion, mum and dad couldn't have done a better job at raising the three of us boys. I mean look how amazing and wonderful I turned out." He runs a hand through his curls with his eyebrows raised and a smug smirk across his gorgeous face causes me to roll my eyes.
"I wish I could say the same about my parents." I have never told Trent about the trouble with my mum because I just haven't really felt the need to bring it up.
"Jordan has mentioned before that you have had trouble in the past with your mum, right?"
"Yeah, dropping out of school wasn't exactly in what my mum had down for the life she had planned out for me. But oh well, I am living the best life now, and I couldn't be happier." I knock into Trent playfully and he shoves me a bit harder back.
I knock into him causing him to sway across the path and he pushes me one back. We go into a sort of pushing fight and one last push from Trent sends me into a clump of snow in the grass at the park.
All I feel is wetness and coldness smothering my bum and he begins swearing as he realises that he pushed me a tad too hard. "I am so sorry, babes, are you okay? Are you hurt? I really didn't mean to..." I interrupt him by breaking out into a loud fit of giggles from shock.
"It's fine, I am just a lot more cold and a bit soggy." He helps me up and I wipe my hands that are covered with cold water.
"You sure?"
"Yes, I'm good." I laugh it off and I interlock our hands again.
I have a feeling that there will be many more stupid moments between the two of us in the future and I cannot wait.
