I'll Beat You One Day

I come out of the hospital and a powerful gust of wind smacks me in the face and I wrap my coat around myself tighter. Christmas is drawing closer and closer and am getting more and more excited the closer it gets. "I feel free!" I squeal and jump up happy that I no longer have to have the boot on my leg anymore and my arm only has to have a support sling that I only have to wear every now and then just as a precaution.

"You look free, just remember what the doctor said, take it easy because you can easily do it again, Nat," Trent raises his eyebrows at me and I beam at him with a smug grin. "Anyway, I really need to be at training, I told them that I would only be about an hour and a half late but it's almost eleven."

"Come on then, I'll come and watch." I grab his hand and drag him across the car park to his car practically running. No words could explain how happy I am to finally not have to limp whilst walking.

"Natalie, careful." Trent laughs as I almost trip on the edge of the pavement.

"I am!" I tell him and await for him to unlock the car door so I can jump in and warm up.

Trent drives us towards Melwood, which is where the boys train and I push the button to put the heaters on as I can still feel the goose bumps even though I have Trent's hoody on, thermal leggings, and a winter coat. "Are you sure that you are gonna be warm enough to come or do you just want me to drop you at home?"

I shake my head. "No, I'll be fine."

"Only if you are sure though, I don't want you getting ill." He places a hand on my thigh and I nod my head.

"I'll just get bored at home and probably end up falling asleep, plus I want to see Jordan, I haven't seen him in a little while now." I stand by my decision and rub my thumb across his hand.

"Okay, that's fine. I can get you another jacket or something once we get to the training grounds."

Standing out in the freezing cold seemed a better idea than sleeping at home with the dogs all snug on the sofa but now I'm not so sure.

I shiver as the wind somehow still makes it through the many layers I am wearing and I hug myself. It's ridiculous how cold I am.

"You alright, Nat? Do you need to go inside?" Jordan jogs over to me as I violently shiver. "We don't want you getting ill or something," He wraps his arm around my shoulders and forces me to go inside. He leads me upstairs to the eating area. "Look you grab something to eat and warm up, I am sure that you're hungry, Rebecca always was when she was pregnant."

He ruffles my hair and I thank him before he jogs back to outside to the freezing cold.

I get a bacon sandwich and I demolish it within seconds, I didn't even realise how hungry I was until now.

I remove the duffle coat from my body and then the Liverpool jacket that Trent gave me so I am left in one of his huge hoodies. My head lays down onto the table and my eyes flutter shut from all of a sudden feeling very tired.

Slowly and blissfully I drift off to sleep.

"Oh my God!" I tell and run into the living room where Trent is sitting watching catchphrase on the telly.

"What?!" He looks at me with alarm and has his hand in the arm of the sofa as if he is about to spring from his seat.

"I can play FIFA!" I scream and grab one of the PlayStation controllers for the two of us.

I can't quite tell whether or not my fiancé is happy about this because he already knows that he will most likely get his arse whooped. "Don't expect to win this time round, babes, I've been practising whilst you have been napping for the past six or so weeks."

"Oh I'm sure that I will win," We start the game and it is an intense one for sure. "Well Mr Arnold, I have to say your practice has certainly benefitted you but just not enough to beat the master of FIFA in this house." I dance about celebrating my victory over Trent yet again.

"I let you win." His arms fold across his chest clearly being his usual self of a sore loser.

"That's what they all say." I tease even further and I sit down on his lap.

"Fine...you beat me, but there will come a day when I beat you, Nat, there will be at least one day where I will finally take over your winning streak."

"Keep dreaming, Trent." I kiss his lips and he wraps his arms around my waist deepening the kiss.

My hands get lost in his soft curls and I squeal as his own hands squeeze my bum playfully. He laughs at my reaction and I break the kiss. "Was that a surprise for you, my gorgeous girlfriend?" Trent rests his forehead against mine and I rest my hands upon his shoulders.

"Err...yes but there's one thing, I ain't your girlfriend." He pulls his head away from mine and frowns with worry and confusion.

"What do you mean?"

"I am not your girlfriend, silly, I am you fiancé. You proposed to me and I now have this amazing ring and a wedding to look forward to with the man I love." I flick his nose jokingly.

"Shit! Wow! How could I forget that I am getting married to the most amazing and gorgeous girl in the world?" His eyes widen with realisation and his cheeks gain a tint of pink with guilt of forgetting.

"It's okay, babes, you ain't the only one that hasn't quite got to terms with the fact that me and you are actually on our way to tying the knot," I get off of his lap. "Anyway, game two." I grab the controller and we go into a full on championship of FIFA games but no change to the normal then.

Yet, Trent did almost manage to beat me but I did just get one goal in the eighty fifth minute which caused him to go into a rage.
