Can I... Be a hero too?

Prologue

Izuku Midoriya didn't understand anything. It was another normal day, before everything came crashing down. They had decided to go to the mall to get some new clothes, when a villain came hurling through the front gate. The villain was made out of slime, and stopped in the middle of the mall.

"Stand down villain!" said a voice from the front entrance. The citizens turned their head to see the 'Turbo Hero' Ingenium standing in front of the doors, pointing at the villain. Without another word, he began to charge forward, preparing to kick.

Surprisingly, the villain didn't even flinch. The slime villain just pulled out a Molotov out of his body, and threw it at the crowd. Seeing the danger, Izuku's mother pushed him out of the way, just before the Molotov hit the floor. Izuku hit the floor gasping, as he looked up, all he could see was fire.

His brain told him to go look for his mother, but his common sense told him to run as fast as he could. Izuku scrambled up and felt like his whole body was burning. He turned away from all the screaming and the smell of burnt flesh, and then froze as he saw a shape.

There was his mother, still in a protected pose, in the dress she had bought just a few minutes before. He stood there, and just stared, disbelieving. After a second he snapped out of it, and ran for his life as tears began to stream down his face. He ran out of the mall and into an alleyway. He immediately fell down onto his knees and felt hot tears run down his cheeks. He fell down onto his hands and just stood there, kneeling on the ground, crying.

Why me? He thought. His whole entire body was shaking. After a few minutes he got up, and assessed the situation. Most of his clothes had been burned off, so he used the clothes he had just bought to change. He slowly got up, and then regretted it instantly. Black spots danced around the corner of his vision and he fell to the ground again, gasping. Everything hurt. His legs, his arms, his chest. He got up again, this time slower, and a hand pushing against the wall for support. He put his hand on his chest and rewounded his body back.

He stepped out of the alleyway and blinked a few times at the blue and red lights flashing in front of him. He looked back towards the mall. It was a smoking mess. The slime villain seemed to have multiple Molotov stored in his body. He knew he shouldn't be this calm. Most normal people would break down or at least in shock, and that's what he wanted to do, but he could afford to seem weak. Not around all these people.

Izuku knew he looked terrible, and would be counted as a witness as soon as they noticed his soot covered arms. He ran, away from the sirens. away from all the danger. Away from his mother, and away from all the people. Later, when the fire had died down, they could not find a trace of either Izuku Midoriya or Inko Midoriya. They were declared dead shortly after.

At the funeral

Bakugou was in denial. His best friend was dead. Why? We were going to be the best heroes together... He thought looking at Inko and Izuku Midoriya's coffin. He wanted to cry, or scream but he couldn't. The only thing he could do was to stare at the coffin, reliving all their good memories.

Flashback

They were in a forest, nearing a bridge, and they were playing 'Bakugou agency'. "Forward mar chin' here we go! Members of the agency Bakugou!" Bakugou said, making small explosions from his hand. "Stand Ughh!" Bakugou shouted in surprise, as he slipped.

"Kacchan!" Izuku shouted, putting a hand in front of him. "Heh?" Bakugou said looking down. Izuku began to pull 'Kacchan' back to land using his telekinesis. "Are you ok?" He asked as soon as Bakugou's feet touched the ground. "Yeah! Thanks Izuku!" Bakugou said grinning sheepishly. "Lets go now!"

"Kacchan! Guess what I got a quirk!" Bakugou looked up from his sand pit, processing. When the information got through he slowly grinned and jumped up. "All right!" he said, fist pumping. Then he looked down again. "What is it?"

Izuku gulped nervously. He knew that he had two quirks, and one would probably be called villainous. So he decided to go with the half truth. "Telekinesis," He said, looking down. Bakugou noticed his friend's weird behavior. "What's wrong Izuku?" He said, cupping Izuku's face in his hand.

Shoot. Izuku thought. He couldn't risk him losing his best friend. He needed to make up a lie. "Um, what if my quirk is actually really weak? The doctor said it was an S rank, but what if he was lying?" He said, spinning a tale in his head.

"Na Izuku," Bakugou said grinning, "We are destined to be the greatest heroes ever! You got to have a strong quirk! Plus even if it was weak, you could still be my sidekick!" Izuku started crying. His friend was so nice to him, yet he was lying. Bakugou mistook this as tears of happiness, and told him to go and play with him. But now, looking back on it, he thought that Izuku was hiding something back then.

Flashback End

"Bakugou Katsuki! Can you please come up here and give the eulogy!" The funeral officiant said looking around. Bakugou got up, and looked at his mom and dad, his knees were shaking and he still wanted to cry, but he couldn't. He needed to be strong. His mom gave him a wobbly smile, and his dad said, "Go get em' champ," His voice full of emotion. Bakugou walked slowly to the front of the podium.

"Izuku was a great friend. He was a great person, and no matter what the hardships happened he had always pulled through,"

His voice started to crack, but he continued. "He was going to be an amazing hero, and he was the kindest person I have ever met, he may have died, but he will forever live on in our hearts." He said, and then the tears came rushing out. He couldn't hold them in anymore. We walked down the stairs and sat down again, still crying.

But unknown to them, there was one Izuku Midoriya listening in.
