Outside of Anchorage, Alaska.

Arya.

"Favorite color?"

"Black."

"Oh please! Black isn't a color it's the absence of color! Don't be so broody pick one!" I laughed at Daniel who chuckled back. We had been in the car for six hours and still had about five hours to go before we would reach our new home. Which I learned was on the outskirts of Kodiak Alaska. To pass the time we had been playing twenty questions, one thing I learned about Daniel, he sucked at this game.

"Okay okay uhm... I guess green. You know cause it's the color of bud." He said laughing "Speaking of which do we have any more joints rolled? Check in the glove box babe." Daniel smiled at me.

"Sure thing hun." I smiled back blushing. Ever since he had marked me Daniel had become incredibly affectionate. I was still trying to get used to the attention, usually when someone stretches their hand out to my face it's to hit me. But I never had to worry about that ever again; I had a mate to protect me. Although I didn't want to just rely on Daniel, what if he wasn't around and Connor appeared out of nowhere. Knowing Connor he would wait to strike when I was alone, only then could he really use my fear against me.

"Hey Daniel?" I asked pulling a joint out of the glove box I placed it between my lips grabbing a lighter out of the cup holder.

"What's up baby?" He asked keeping his eyes on the road.

"Will you teach me how to fight? Like really fight? Oh and could you teach me how to use a gun?" That got his attention. Daniel took his eyes off the road staring at me with a quizzical look.

"Why do you wanna learn how to fight? Are you planning to kill me in my sleep?" He chuckled teasing me. I laughed and passed him the joint.

"No, never. I just want to be prepared in case Connor or Mason show up and you aren't here to help. Or what if they get the upper hand on you in a fight and Jeremy isn't around. I should be able to defend myself. I don't want to be a weakling who hides behind her mate. I've been weak my whole life, it needs to change." Just hearing the words come out of my mouth made me feel stronger, I needed to pull myself out of this slump and make myself a better person. No one should live in fear. A smile crept across Daniel's face as he passed the joint my way. Daniel was quiet for a minute, just grinning like an idiot.

"Uhh, you okay there Dan?" I asked giggling; I took a large hit of the joint letting the smoke fill my lungs.

"I am just so happy to hear you say that. Of course I will teach you to fight! In fact let's have our first lesson right now!" Daniel turned off the main road and drove down a small side road before pulling up to a large empty field. He parked the car and took the joint from me taking a large hit he opened his door and jumped from the Jeep. I followed his motions hopping out of the Jeep as well.

Daniel walked around the Jeep and grabbed my hand leading me out into the middle of the field. He stood in front of me holding me at an arm's length then passed me the joint.

"Okay so let's start with something basic. A simple punch to the face." He said smiling.

"Okay Mr. Miyagy" I laughed.

"Don't be cute I'm trying to focus." Daniel chuckled. He held his hand up in front of me his palm facing me.

"First thing is, you gotta make the fist right or the punch won't land properly, you could break your knuckles. A lot bad shit could happen, so I want you to make a fist for me like this." He said curling his large hand into a fist. I held my hand out and imitated his actions. Daniel took his hand into mine he moved my thumb from its place slightly lower.
