Arya.

I stared out at ocean listening to the waves crash against the rocks. Lifting the joint to my lips I took a long drag. As I exhaled the smoke I watched the wind whisk the cloud away down the beach. I closed my eyes and let me self go for a while. I didn’t want to think about going back to Colorado. I just wanted to stay in that moment right there on the beach forever. I never wanted to leave Alaska. It was everything I could have ever dreamed of. My whole family was here, granted Connor was still a pain in the ass. Although he was really making an effort to be better and Melody really kept him in check.

It had been a week since Daniel announced that we would be returning to the Grey Winds territory. A week of countless mixed feelings from absolute rage to terror. Daniel was constantly asking me if I was alright, if I needed anything. It was sweet the first day or two but now it was frustrating. By Wednesday I was sneaking into forest everyday just to get a couple hours of peace. If I was going back there I needed to mentally prepare myself. If I was going to kill Mason, I needed to mentally prepare myself. Daniel told me I didn’t need to do this on my own but I did. Everyone knew there was only one way to truly kill a werewolf, no silver, no wolf’s bane. You simply chop their head off. Apparently it’s customary to display the head of the defeated Alpha. I’m pretty sure the Middle Ages were hundreds of years ago but whatever. I took another drag from the joint soaking in the bliss of being high. I could faintly hear the sound of shoes crunching against the rocks behind me. I knew it was either Daniel or Melody so I didn’t bother looking.

“Brought you some coffee.” Jeremy’s voice broke my thoughts I jumped slightly not expecting him. I turned around to look at him standing there in his usual fitted jeans and black hoodie with a cigarette resting between his lips and a cup of coffee in each hand.

“I thought you were Daniel.” I laughed a little as he sat down beside me handing me the cup.

“No he’s on the phone with Frankie making some final plans. He sent me out to check on you. So how are you holding up?” Jeremy asked taking a long drag from his cigarette.

“If one more person asks me how I’m holding up I’m gonna lose my shit.” I chuckled shaking my head. I took a large hit off my joint and passed it to Jeremy. He put out his cigarette and placed it behind his ear before grabbing the joint.

“Daniel’s just a little worried, he still wants you to go to Boston for a few weeks and stay with Frankie and Cora.” Jeremy hit the joint a few times before passing it back to me.

“I can’t just abandon my family at the first sight of trouble. What kind of Luna does that?” I asked him as I puffed out a few smoke rings watching them drift off into the sky.

“I know you can do it. You may be half human but there is some werewolf in you I can sense it. And that little bit of werewolf is strong. You have Alpha blood running through your veins. With that and your family by your side to back you up then you can do anything. You don’t give yourself enough credit Arya.  I see a warrior in you.” Smoke seeped out of his mouth as he grinned at me.

“I hope your right man.” I stared out at the sea watching the gulls swoop down to the water and grab fish.

“I know I’m right. Anyways Daniel is begging me to bring you back inside. We’re gonna have a little party this weekend before we leave for Colorado. So prepare to get completely tanked!” Jeremy exclaimed jumping up from his spot on the rocks. I stood up as well and we made our way up the beach back home. Jeremy’s words fresh in my mind I thought about what the next couple weeks would bring us. Would Mason be prepared for us waiting with an army? Did we still have the element of surprise? Did it really fucking matter?

Regardless of what went down I knew we would come out on top. There was no room for failure. It wasn’t in our nature to fail. We were warriors, and we could handle anything that Mason Huntington threw our way.

Grey Winds Pack Territory.

Sean watched as Mason climbed the ladder till he reached the top. He lifted the severed head and impaled it on the massive stake sticking out of the ground. Mason turned his head to the side and nodded to the men waiting by the large oak tree in the center of the town green. The men hoisted the body belonging to the severed head up into the air. After tying off the rope the headless body swung from the tree hanging up by a foot. Faint cries and gasps could be heard throughout the crowd behind them. A teenage girl began vomiting at the gruesome sight. Sean felt like he was going to be sick. Mason turned around and grinned like a mad man at the crowed of terrified people before him.

“This is what happens when you defy your Alpha! When you defy your fucking God!” Mason thundered menacingly, his eyes as black as night. “I don’t care who I have to torture, who I have to kill or maim. I WILL BE REPSECTED! I will not tolerate you fucking peasants disobeying my orders! I will fucking end you all, you’re nothing but scum!” Mason growled glaring at the crowd.

“Anyone else care to defy me today?” Mason asked mockingly. The entire town was silent.

“No? Wonderful, go about your business everybody.” Mason shooed everyone away and hopped off the ladder walking up to his Beta. The townspeople ran off to their homes to hide. School was no longer in session. No one opened their shops, everyone lived in utter fear.

“Any luck finding Mark?” Mason asked him Sean didn’t want to answer, but knew the repercussions if he didn’t.

“Unfortunately no. He’s a very bright boy, he has disappeared off the map.” Sean frowned slightly hoping Mason would move on to a new subject. It was getting harder and harder to keep everything hidden from him.

“I want you to head over to his cabin. Look through all his stuff again, see if he left any hint to where he has gone.” Mason eyed him out skeptically before walking over to his truck. Mason hopped in and sped off not once looking back at a very distressed Sean.

Sean knew Mason was becoming suspicious. He had to keep Charlotte safe. He tried his hardest to keep the towns people safe. As Sean worked tirelessly to keep everyone safe Mason drifted further and further away from reality. Sean was worried Mason would snap at any minute and slaughter everyone. All he could do was sit and wait for Mark to come back with Daniel and hopefully some others to help them. He just prayed to the Moon Goddess that they weren’t too late.
