lucille granger
We began to walk back to the main building in a harsh silence for a few moments. I followed Hagrid's footsteps, assuming that the path Cole and I were going to have to shovel would be along the lines of his footprints.
The only noises that rang through our ears were the silent crunch of snow and our raspy breathing as we desperately attempted to keep ourselves warm.
As we turned a corner, Fay decided to break the silence. "Ivan, I can't stress you enough when I tell you how much of a dick you are."
Ivan, whom was trotting in front of her, whipped his head around and shriveled his face. It really was a tacit statement, but his face looked innocent as a child. "What did I do?"
"What did you do?" She mocked. "You threw Lucille under the bus, is what you did. She was clearly destined to get in trouble, yet you lied about it to further place the blame on her. She warned us, Ivan."
"Well, if it bothered you so much, why didn't you say anything to defend her? You kept quiet the entire time," He remarked precisely.
She fell quiet and we began to tear through the snow in utter silence again. The air was so cold and sharp it felt as if was pinching my exposed skin on my neck and face. It was torture to breath in through my nose.
"It doesn't matter anymore," Ivy concluded. "It's done. Let's not bicker about it like it'll change anything."
I kept walking, the burning in my thighs intensifying with every step. "What Ivy said. I don't mind, just listen to me next time. If you guys try to do stupid shit again and I warned you, I'm not coming to defend you. Soon enough, you'll all know magic and won't need me."
They shrugged their shoulders. "We were just curious," Cole said. "We're not going to do anything like that again."
We kept walking until we finally reached a clearing where we could walk freely without the chance that we'd fall to our knees in snow. We walked carefully, trying to avoid slipping, before we finally could enter the building. As we walked, a flush of hot air struck our chilled skin, creating a tingly sensation that I couldn't tell if I enjoyed or despised.
The five of us pulled our coats off immediately, and I looked at them to notice their faces were beat red. We began to walk towards the common room, and stopped at the door. Just as I was about to mutter the passcode, Cole interrupted me.
"No, I want to say it," He ushered me. He walked up to the entrance, hissed the password, and the door pulled open itself. He smiled to himself like a little kid and stepped inside, the four of us following closely behind him.
Upon out entrance, I noticed Lorenzo and Onyx sitting on the couch in the common room. They looked up immediately and met eyes with me. Lorenzo brought his hand to the arm of the couch and pushed himself up to stand, then walked towards me.
"Where were you?" He asked as he wrapped his hands around my waist and kissed my forehead. I turned my head to the side to rest my head on his chest for a moment, noticing Cole watching me sharply, a blank expression on his face.
I pulled away and gazed upwards at Lorenzo. "We went outside to just walk around for a bit."
"Where'd you go?" He questioned.
I was hoping he wouldn't ask that question. "Just around-."
"-The Forbidden Forest," Ivan interrupted me. Fay elbowed him in the chest, causing him to groan quietly.
Holy fuck. Ivan didn't know how to keep his mouth shut. Lorenzo widened his eyes at Ivan's words.
"You went into the Forbidden Forest? By yourselves?" He raised his tone a bit louder in astonishment.
