lucille granger

My eyes fluttered open and I found myself staring at my bare ceiling, the mid-day light peering through the tinted windows in my bedroom.

The usual few seconds of unknowingness and utter confusion of who you are and what you're doing took place, before my brain flipped the switch on and I turned my head to see my ruffled, outlined sheets, the duvet cover pulled down, and the pillow sunken through the middle.

I rubbed my eyes slowly and stretched my arms before turning to the other side and glancing at my clock, which read 11:46 a.m. I yawned as my eyes landed on Onyx, who was sitting on her bed completing classwork along with Fay.

I quickly pulled the sheets up higher to cover my bare upper chest, but Onyx only rolled her eyes.

"Where's -- um, where's Enzo?" I groaned tiredly.

"Hello to you too, Luce. He left soon after I came home -- round' 10. I think he was waiting for you to wake up. I told him to go home," She responded.

"Why?"

"Cause' you were passed out," Onyx said. "It didn't look like you were going to wake up for ages."

"Oh -- um, okay," I said, then pointed to the ground. "Onny, would you uh -- would you hand me my shirt?"

She let out a high pitched grunt as she bent over and picked up my shirt, then tossed it to me. I sat up and turned my back to face them and I quickly pulled it over my head. Embarrassing.

Fay flashed a warm smile when I met eyes with her, and I returned one.

"What's Ivy doing? Why isn't she here?" I asked.

"She's with Sage," Fay responded.

Sage was Ivy's girlfriend. The two met soon after Ivy arrived here, and they became close very quickly.

I nodded my head. Onyx began to talk.

"So, Enzo and I spoke."

I looked away from Fay and met eyes with Onyx. "About?"

"Well, let's just say I'm confused as to why you two slept together last night," She said, raising her eyebrows and tilting her head slightly.

"You didn't have to say it out loud," I murmered.

My embarrassed eyes met with Fay's, and she smirked to herself and mouthed, "It's okay."

I glanced back at Onyx, and she began to speak in a softer tone. "Lucille, if you've lost feelings, or if you aren't sure of yourself, you need to call it off. Or, at least, tell him you need to take a break."

"I haven't lost feelings. I love him, Onny," I sighed.

"Then what the fuck are you doing?"

Fay asked, "Is this about Cole?"

"Yes, but it's not even that big of a deal. I don't know why Lorenzo is taking this so far," I told the two of them.

Onyx sat up more straight, and placed her books lightly on the side of the bed. "Luce, I don't know what to tell you. You know him much better than I do, and I seem to understand his feelings more than you do."

I looked away and breathed, annoyed.

"Are you sure you're not just avoiding how you really feel?"

"I'm not! But I don't get why I can't spend time with him!"

"Lucille, I don't think that the problem is you spending time with him. Do you really think Lorenzo would mind if you had a guy friend? He saw Cole feeling you up, and you fucking let him. So I really don't blame him for getting upset about it," Onyx said.
