I woke up and just laid there, I was peckish. Scrap that I was famished, i got out of bed, looked to my substitute phone.
Mum - I'm working late at the firm tonight, don't wait up on me. Love you xx. Sent at 7. 17 pm.
I looked at the time now, it wasn't too long ago my mum sent the text. I couldn't be bothered to reply, she was probably busy anyway. It was so hot in the house, I took off my robe and walked downstairs. I heard my belly calling, I comforted it with a rub. I got to the middle floor and the tv was flashing through the small window on top of the door.
Who the funk is in my house?
I went and got some long wooden broom handle. I then walked to the living room door kicked it open like those police in raids. I brandished the wooden brrom handle.
"I bought you Chinese." What type of intruder buys you Chinese and comfortably sits in your living room ?
I put the stick down and opened my eyes fully, took in who I saw and my facial expression changed from frightened brave to can you get out.
"Why are you still here?" I said with the straightest face ever.
"Well, I couldn't just leave you could I ?" I think that was meant to be a rhetorical question, I answered it any way.
"Erm, yes you could," I was still looking at him like what the fuck is this.
This boy was having a feast, there was Singapore noodles, king prawn fried rice, ribs, chicken, spring rolls, some pork rice and a large bottle of Pepsi. I'm not gonna lie, my mouth started to salavate; I had to gain composure. This is not the first time you've seen Chinese Esther chill. My mind was telling me no, but my body, my body was telling me yesss.
My belly was talking again, I tried so hard to remain strong, Jermaine looked up from his food. "You want some?" He offered.
"No, what i want is for you to get up with your crap and get out pronto." I snapped my fingers when I said pronto.
I walked downstairs and looked for something to eat. Why did he have to buy Chinese, now I just want Chinese. Like who can resist Chinese? If I was on a diet and my mum bought Chinese, I'd be like fuck it, just fuck the diet.
I tried to take the smell of Chinese erase from my nostrils and the image from my mind. I took out some smoked salmon, warmed it in the microwave, I got some cheese, two crackers. I spread the cheese on the crackers added some salmon and e voila diner was served. I decided to put an apple on the side too.
I heard a shuffling movement and then the sound of footsteps on the stairs. That's what I thought, go home bitch.
Jermaine then walked into the kitchen and put his arms around my waist. Urghh I hated how he made me feel at times, I felt all mushy inside and I'm a warrior I'm not supposed to feel all mushy and tingly. There was just something about Jermaine, his nice light brown eyes, his beautiful smile, the way he always looked on point, nice trim and his smell. Lorddd, I love a boy that smells good. His sent sorta reminded me of my childhood too, the distinctive, dominant smell my dad left in the house. It marked his territory, our territory. At least not anymore.
I blinked rapidly to bring myself out of my thoughts and back into reality.
"Jermaine can you let go of me please?" Err, why am I being so nice.
See what he does to me, he messes with my moods, he switches my moods like the channels on the Tv.
"No." He spoke calm and slow. I could feel his heart beat on my back, it was in synch with mine. I needed to get out of feeling like this, this ain't no movie. I need to stop all this soppy shizniyee.
I tried to shrug him off, but he wouldn't budge. Jermaine has such a strong hold, it was unbelievable, he was like human hand cuffs just around my body.
"Stop trying to fight me." He whispered all smooth like butter, he had me, it was like he had some type of hold on me.
I jumped up and down a little,"Just leave me alone." My lip quivered.
"I don't wanna, I just can't let myself do that any longer." His head was resting on my shoulder by now. "I will always be here for Esa, you should know this by now." I screwed up my face, "well that's sad cause I couldn't tell." I retorted. He loosened his grip on my waist, " Esther don't do me like that." He had now let go of me and stood in front of me with his head cocked to one side. "nobody's doing you like anything." I munched on my cracker sandwich.
Jermaine sighed and sat down on a chair,"you are so much work you know, little hard headed girl." He chuckled. I screwed him, "who's little, abeg jare comot from dis chair and leave the way you came if you don't want to be tootless." I spoke in a Nigerian dialect.
"Is that a threat." He raised his eyebrows, amused.
"Take it how you want, that one be your own issue, not my own." I shrugged and put my plate in the sink.
"Your too small to be making big threats." He got up and walked towards me, cornering me. We were to close I could feel his thing on my bum, so I decided to turn to face him. "What?" I asked while drying off my hands with the hand towel.
"I'm sorry." He smiled at me befor putting his hands around my waist for the second time today and bringing me in to his chest. "For.." My voice trailed on waiting for his reasons.
"For shouting at you, I shouldn't have done that, I was impatient and I'm sorry for that." He kissed my forehead. "I'm also sorry that I didn't show enough sympathy towards you when you was at your lowest." I smiled, he was so considerate. At times. He kissed my cheek. "but I'm not sorry for taking your phone, I didn't like your attitude, though I should have gave it back sooner and come to see you." He made me aww and laugh at the same time, he was so solicitous. He kissed my other cheek.
"Same here, I should gave came to see your ugly self." I laughed at him screwing up his face.
"I'm very handsome, thank you very much, girls are always complimenting." I raised my eyebrows. "Really?"
"You know your the only one for me." He kissed my neck.
"whatever you say." I sang.
Spontaneously, he kissed me. His lips was so soft, they tasted like strawberries and his breath smelt like peppermint.
When the kiss ended I was flustered, he then winked at me, "told you I care."
